Other than the obvious of Amazon Prime and Netflix... what subscriptions do you have that you think are worth paying for?

I am usually fair tight when it comes to spending money on myself but I am starting a new job soon and will be able to justify a little treat. Currently, I'm thinking of something like Headspace, but curious to know if there's anything you're prepared to spend money on that actually feels worth it to you, given the cost of living crisis and all that!

Thanks so much for any ideas. :)

Can anyone who uses Readly tell me if you can access it on 2 devices please

CurlewKate · 29/04/2023 20:45

If you like audio books, Scribd is much, much cheaper. Not so many books and you have to watch out for abridged versions, but it's a flat rate subscription then you can have as many as you want.

Les Mills and WithU for fitness
The Mr Bs Emporium Book subscription was a great present.

We don’t have many, we cut it right down to save £.
We have Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV. But sone of them were free or on offers. Now TV but we stop and start that depending on what’s on.

I have Audible for my commutes mainly, I find that really good as I don’t get time to read but on office days have about 2.5hrs of car time. I am about to pause it though as I have too much credit.

We use Spotify a lot and have the shared premium thingy.

That’s it.

You can create up to 5 profiles/use on 5 devices - my mum, sister and niece have their own profiles attached to my account.

Spotify
Audible

@NorthFaceofthelaundrypile I wouldn't touch TOYL. It'll be fine until she goes bankrupt again and takes your money ... google her name + All Boxed Up and you'll see loads on how she rips people off

We have gusto every fortnight, a gin box monthly and Freddy's flowers once a month.

Entertainmentwise, Readly, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney +, Paramount +, Now TV at certain times, not right now, but am poised to do it for Succession. We do not even watch v much TV, but have different programmes we are following.

I had Les mills, but dropped it while pregnant. I need it back, I am four stone heavier!

Snugglemonkey · 29/04/2023 21:29

Oh also kindle unlimited and the music unlimited.

Is Zoe very expensive? Do you consider it worth the cost? Thanks

A candle subscription box - DH and I usually fight to see who gets to the box first. Although I know candles are frowned upon on Mumsnet as the work of the fragrance devil.

Which one do you get? I have a candle... problem BlushGrin

DustyLee123 · 29/04/2023 21:40

I have nothing, except Tesco delivery.

BeyondMyWits · 29/04/2023 21:43

Disney+ on Tesco club card points, but they are becoming lower value from 1st May, so need to decide if it is worth it for all the box sets or not.

Check your local library - mine offers eBooks and eAudiobooks via BorrowBox, completely free. The loan period is 14 days, but you do get a reminder when it’s coming to an end so can renew if you haven’t finished!

LeroyJenkinssss · 29/04/2023 21:58

@Stripycatz which plant and stationary ones do you have? I used to have them but the plant one we cancelled I can’t quite remember why and the stationary ones quality dropped massively and she’s now stopped doing them.

I'm a huge fan of monthly boxes - love the surprise!

currently only have pact coffee, warhammer magazine, Phoenix magazine, lego magazine, as well as Amazon prime, music, Readly, audible, Netflix and that’s it I think. I was gifted a yarn subscription which was fab and a candle one which was also lovely.

snailgallop · 29/04/2023 21:58

Gosh, I wasn't expecting so many replies! :)

I have used Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited in the past, but felt it increasingly difficult to justify the costs. I am more tempted now that Amazon Music has gone to shit, and you need to pay in order to play specific songs, but I'm also quite cross and reluctant to pay them on principle. 😂

I'm not very adventurous with my music tastes, so it might be cheaper to just pay for songs and play those rather than stream those.

Will definitely look into a few of these suggestions like Earth & Wheat. I do sympathise with posters who have already cut back - I've done the same too, but I can now afford, I think, one little treat again, and just need to pick which one is the best value for how much I'll like it!

Oh and Disney +. Plus Minecraft, alo moves, Apple Arcade.

FiftyNotNifty · 29/04/2023 22:02

I'm finding Spotify a really worthwhile spend, as it has audiobooks and podcasts as well as music, also some sleep sounds, relaxation type stuff. The kids have their own sign ins and they listen to a lot of music too. It's really well used!
