Other than the obvious of Amazon Prime and Netflix... what subscriptions do you have that you think are worth paying for?

I am usually fair tight when it comes to spending money on myself but I am starting a new job soon and will be able to justify a little treat. Currently, I'm thinking of something like Headspace, but curious to know if there's anything you're prepared to spend money on that actually feels worth it to you, given the cost of living crisis and all that!

Thanks so much for any ideas. :)

@AlltheFs "We don't have many, we cut it right down to save £ ............."

Then you say you subscribe to Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV, Audible, Spotify and Now TV occasionally.

That's "not many".
Really !!!

Amazon prime
Tesco delivery saver
Recently started Hello Fresh and I'm liking it
Gave myself a bimonthly flower subscription 18 months ago but stopped after a year as too much ££
Too many magazines! I'm cutting two out this month.

Gosh, I wasn't expecting so many replies! :)

I have used Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited in the past, but felt it increasingly difficult to justify the costs. I am more tempted now that Amazon Music has gone to shit, and you need to pay in order to play specific songs, but I'm also quite cross and reluctant to pay them on principle. 😂

I'm not very adventurous with my music tastes, so it might be cheaper to just pay for songs and play those rather than stream those.

Will definitely look into a few of these suggestions like Earth & Wheat. I do sympathise with posters who have already cut back - I've done the same too, but I can now afford, I think, one little treat again, and just need to pick which one is the best value for how much I'll like it!

If you would like a code for £3 off earth and wheat send me a pm, it will get me £2 off as well in the interests of transparency :-)

prime, mainly used for books, music and the gaming part.

Had Netflix changed it for Disney+ when it was on offer last year. fed up of the new stuff that had already been aired. Also have the Roku thing and loads of free content.

Pause from Mind. Monthly money goes to Mind and in return I get a small box of crafty things and a tote bag.

Papergang until recently. It was a Christmas present. I completely adore stationery, only stopped it because I was running out of storage space and opportunity to use it all!

Burritoe · 01/05/2023 09:56

Amazon prime, Netflix, Spotify, Smol for washing pods/surface spray/fabric conditioner.
I have just signed up for Estrid using a referral code, and do the Liberty beauty drop.

Reading this I am Shock at the amount of subscriptions people have.
And there was I thinking there was a cost of living crisis in the UK and Ireland 😀

Yes, but different people prioritise different things.

I may pay for Netflix (£7/month), but I don't pay for my hair to be cut (£0/month).

The whole point of this thread was to find out which little luxuries people think are worth prioritising, as when you cut everything back to the bone, a couple of little treats make it all bearable. :)

I've redone my budget, and I can now afford to buy a little regular something that makes me smile. I just can't figure out what that something should be, hence trying to steal ideas!

We have Spotify and NowTV when they send us a good special offer.

We cancelled everything else.

I'll cancel these if I have to.

Bookworm333 · 01/05/2023 19:29

Gousto
Readly but going to cancel as a lot of the content is on the Libby app - will miss the overseas magazines though so keep putting it off.
Spotify
Netflix
Cheese Geek twice a year
Cancelled sky and don't miss it
Paramount -Enraged OH subscribed on the sly - it has virtually nothing on there - but realised it has Yellowjackets so all is forgiven! Will cancel once the season is over.
Ninjago magazine for DS and Frozen for DD - gave subscription for their birthdays

I love this thread, we're likely to cancel some of ours to cut back on expenses, but I'm making a note of everything in the hope things improve in future!
