I’ll start:

~ turn the setting on the toaster down
~ turn the heating down
~ open all the windows
~ remove all the wierd condiments cluttering up the kitchen counter and put them away properly
~ scrub the kitchen to within an inch of its life
~ clear all the wierd pots of things that he eats on toast out of the fridge and do a grocery order containing all the food I like
~ remove or wash all of his dirty laundry that lies alongside the laundry basket and either wash it or dump it elsewhere depending on how generous I’m feeling
~ steal his pillows 😄

Anyone else?

I just buy ice cream and watch trashy TV

Heinzbakedbeans · 27/04/2023 08:52

Lie in bed all night watching youtube
Eat whatever I want for dinner (bowl of cereal, chippie) without DP doing 🙄
Let my dcs have dinner on the sofa (DP hates this and the dcs always grass me up)

frozendaisy · 27/04/2023 08:53

Have a bath with door open and music on loud

bigbadbarry · 27/04/2023 08:54

Mines away this week. Day 1 all towels go in the wash and I change the sheets

YaWeeFurryBastard · 27/04/2023 08:54

Massive fart in the hallway and then sprawl on the sofa

Hugasauras · 27/04/2023 08:55

A really leisurely and relaxing poo (this is more about kids being away though!)

I don't think I really do anything different if it's just DH. Everything I want to do I can do when he's here.

MiningForYou · 27/04/2023 08:57

Get my favourite pizza, sprawl in the bed and watch all the girly films. All things I can do with him here but it feels different.

im going away for a night this weekend so my DH can make his own stinky tuna pasta bake in peace and stay up gaming in his boxers.

PuttingDownRoots · 27/04/2023 08:58

Put my feet up for a few hours. Mainly because he leaves at 4.30am.

Dracuuule · 27/04/2023 08:58

Clean and tidy with really loud music on, with a bit of dancing around involved and then just r e l a x for the rest of the time.

Silverrocks · 27/04/2023 09:01

Haha the window one is the same here! He doesn't mind me having the windows open of course anyway as it's my house as well but I love them wide open if at home during the day to give the house a good airing, we compromise if he's home and open them a normal amount (he'd happily have them closed).

I find something crap to watch on telly, have a long 'everything' bath, play with my toys sometimes. I can do all of those when he's here but it hits different when you have the house to yourself!

Featheryash · 27/04/2023 11:05

I’m enjoying these 😃

Ah yes the freedom to eat whatever you fancy … and then eat it in bed 😃😃… in front of a film of your choice

… my dh cooks most nights so he decides the menu most of the time.

And the freedom to have loud music on and make the house your “own” without disrupting their Zoom calls … .

Pre kids, I basically went feral and existed on pizza, diet coke, and bottles of lager. Back to back watching of the extended version of Lord of the Rings usually featured. Not exactly Instagram-worthy "living best life", but I loved it!

Post kids, if he takes the kids away for an overnight, I switch everything off, make a cup of tea, and sit down in absolute blissful silence for about a solid hour. Then I open all the windows.

And then I do whatever "big chore" that is the reason for them being away in the first place (painting etc), which can actually be quite good fun.

I'm currently trying to persuade my husband to do it soon so I can paint the living room....

Bapbap · 27/04/2023 11:22

Enjoy a lovely night's sleep with no snoring

onepieceoflollipop · 27/04/2023 11:26

Potter about in peace
if everyone is out - clean the bath, then run deep bath and borrow all the teen girl products (not stealing, I pay for most of them)
take coffee/glass of fizz/g&t in bath)
wash kitchen floor if cba

ExtremelyDetermined · 27/04/2023 11:27

Enjoy the silence - he always has music blaring

Then invite my friends round

33goingon64 · 27/04/2023 15:15

Put away the various pairs of his shoes that get left in the hallway. Put all his clothes, dirty or clean, that have been left around on the spare bed for him to deal with when he's back. Watch things he hates on TV. Stay up late.

I just buy ice cream and watch trashy TV

Yes definitely this!!!

yomellamoHelly · 27/04/2023 15:25

Wash everything on the bed. Open the bedroom windows wide and clean it.

Sort my laundry.

With time, clean the kitchen properly. Love that it stays immaculate.

CatticusFinch · 27/04/2023 17:09

Pour a glass of wine and order a takeaway. All things I can do when DH is here but its nice to do it quietly and in a tidy house!

matchalattewithsoy · 27/04/2023 17:25

Mine is away three nights, I'm putting new bedding on - unsullied by his death farts - and fresh nightie and bed socks. And I'm going to watch absolute TRASH in bed. DC's will join me until it's time for them to go to bed too.

BruceAndNosh · 27/04/2023 17:30

Sleep in an L shape - upper body straight on my side of the bed, legs across his side.
Steal his pillows to make a nest.
Have a takeaway Chinese
Eat toast in bed

averylongtimeago · 27/04/2023 17:33

He doesn't go away- but my fantasy:
Total control of the tv remote.
Absolutely no diy, two men in a shed mend cars, fishing, or sport.

My favourite chilled white wine and posh crips while my perfectly cooked Chinese takeaway is delivered. (Duck pancakes, sticky ribs, chilli chips, duck in plum sauce, special fried rice.
Which I absolutely do not have to share.
The whole bed for me and the dogs and no snoring keeping me awake.

Pretty easy to please meSmile

strawberryjeans · 27/04/2023 17:38

Chinese takeaway.

TweedPillow · 27/04/2023 17:42

I buy a rib eye steak and share it with the cat whilst watching horror films

fairtrauchled · 27/04/2023 17:42

Turn the heating down
Open windows
Feel happy that I'm actually in control of the TV remote
Eat what I like when I like(DH's appetite is a lot bigger than mine)
