I’ll start:

~ turn the setting on the toaster down
~ turn the heating down
~ open all the windows
~ remove all the wierd condiments cluttering up the kitchen counter and put them away properly
~ scrub the kitchen to within an inch of its life
~ clear all the wierd pots of things that he eats on toast out of the fridge and do a grocery order containing all the food I like
~ remove or wash all of his dirty laundry that lies alongside the laundry basket and either wash it or dump it elsewhere depending on how generous I’m feeling
~ steal his pillows 😄

Anyone else?

Oooh I never think to do anything different. I do the same as we always do together but on my own obviously.

LindorDoubleChoc · 27/04/2023 17:47

Do a little dance in celebration. I love being on my own, it's my favourite thing.

Let the washing up accumulate for a few days. Eat fish. Go to bed really early, sometimes before 10pm.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 27/04/2023 08:54

Massive fart in the hallway and then sprawl on the sofa

😂😂😂 Life goals!

piedbeauty · 27/04/2023 17:49

Watch what I want on TV or sit in quiet without the football on.

Have crisps and wine for tea.

Tidsleytiddy · 27/04/2023 17:57

Sit in peace with my drink thinking about things with no one interrupting.
Play loud House music and dance

Featheryash · 27/04/2023 18:00

Oh yes yomellamoHelly the total bliss when everything stays put! And the utter joy of being able to spread out wide in bed BruceAndNosh

I love the silence too ExtremelyDetermined

My DH never goes away! I wish he would sometimes as I just want to drink wine, eat loads of cheese and watch trash TV without having to talk to anyone 🤣.

Featheryash · 27/04/2023 18:03

TweedPillow · 27/04/2023 17:42

I buy a rib eye steak and share it with the cat whilst watching horror films

I love this TweedPillow

In fact there's a lot of husband-for-pet swapping going on on this thread 😄

Wine and crisps and dip for dinner, trash on tv. Don’t unload the dishwasher at all, just use it until it’s empty.

Bapbap · 27/04/2023 18:10

Chuck recycling directly in the kitchen bin instead of walking outside to the recycling bin.

GeoffPeterson · 27/04/2023 18:17

I disappear some clutter he’s been hoarding. Never seems to notice!
Sandwich and crisps for dinner
Cats on the bed

Love it when he’s here and when he’s not here!

purplehair1 · 27/04/2023 18:59

Blimey there’s a lot of housework on your list! I sleep starfish in the bed, watch whatever I want, maybe have just toast for dinner.

RhubarbFairy · 27/04/2023 19:06

Assuming he's taken the DC too, yes?

Whip around the house, so it's tidy, with my music blaring across all 5 Dots, so no matter where I am in the house, I can hear it.

Stretch longways across the sofa. Usually with one or both cats for company, and watch whatever I want.

Sleep diagonally in bed, with the duvet wrapped around me like a burrito. Usually with a cat on either side of me.

SeaToSki · 27/04/2023 19:07

Random food for dinner, whatever I fancy and then in the morning I read in bed for a bit and then get breakfast in bed. DH usually gets up later than I do, so having the bed to myself for the morning is a treat

gettingolderbutcooler · 27/04/2023 19:10

Get house clean. Not super clean, but tidy.
Chocs. Booze. Netflix.

Knackeredandalsotired · 27/04/2023 19:33

Let the cat roam free about the house at night so he can sleep on a warm bed.

This only lasts a couple of nights, though, before he pisses me off by climbing on me or meowing for food at 5am. Damn him for proving DH right!

Featheryash · 27/04/2023 19:36

Is it strange that tonight I am eating an Aiki noodle and half a tin of pears for dinner? 😃

This is the plus side to being divorced. I do as I please all the times - well around the kids as well!!

Willmafrockfit · 27/04/2023 19:37

lovely vegetarian meal for me,
perhaps roast veggies with couscous

Willmafrockfit · 27/04/2023 19:39

hold on to the remote control

Featheryash · 27/04/2023 19:41

Sorry that last post about my wierd dinner was in response to SeaToSki

Yes, DC away too if it helps RhubarbFairy! Love the idea of my music being played in every room 😀that sounds heavenly to me!

Sorry about the cat Knackeredandalsotired

I just buy ice cream and watch trashy TV

I love this one! Replace ice cream with chocolate and I'm with you!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/04/2023 19:49

Hmmm. DP is clearly living a double life, @Featheryash

~ turn the setting on the toaster down up three clicks so it's toast and not slightly warmed bread
~ turn the heating down off
~ open all the windows Yup.
~ remove all the wierd condiments cluttering up the kitchen counter and put them away properly YES YES YES
~ scrub the kitchen to within an inch of its life YES
~ clear all the wierd pots of things that he eats on toast out of the fridge and do a grocery order containing all the food I like YES
~ remove or wash all of his dirty laundry that lies alongside the laundry basket and either wash it or dump it elsewhere depending on how generous I’m feeling I leave it to fester in the spare room whilst getting to wash mine so it's fluffy and scented instead of shrunken, crispy and probably turning grey
~ steal his pillows 😄 God, no. But I do change the pillowcases before they gain sentience on his side. And take MY pillows back.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/04/2023 19:57

Wine in the bath. Sit in total silence and play games on my phone.

I also usually get bored after a couple of days and end up painting a room a different colour and then hate myself halfway through for making so much work for myself.

That is a rather confronting thought celticprincess 🤫 … I guess I’ll see how I feel after a week or so and if the novelty wears off or not …

… this was meant to be a light hearted thread but I must admit I am quite surprised by how many pp (including myself) clean parts of the house immediately after their dh has gone … which indicates that quite a few men appear to be a barrier to living in a clean and orderly environment … it’s definitely a problem in my marriage and getting worse!
