I've eaten the same thing for lunch and dinner 6 times this week..

By choice!

Kids are grown so I don't have to cook for them.

Husband and I have different work schedules so don't always eat together.

This week, I've had crusty bread with cheese and salad, and extra salad, for lunch every day and I going to have it for tea tonight too!

It's just bliss to be able to fancy something simple and have it.

What would you have every day if you could?

I eat the same thing for lunch every day, 2 nut bars, a protein pudding from Aldi and a banana. I also have autism though. I can’t think I could eat the same thing every day for dinner.

I thought you were going to say OP that you didnt like this

This happens to me because I batch cook, but then I run out of space to have a number of different types of meal so I end up taking the same type of curry or chilli or stew to work every single day for a week or so until they run out and I can cook something else and stuff it in the freezer. There just isnt enough room!!!

I start counting down the days until I can do a different recipe!

ferneytorro · 21/04/2023 19:12

One of my relatives eats the same thing every day (unless she’s out for a meal so perhaps once every couple of months) and has done to my knowledge for at least three years (it’s probably actually double that). By which I mean same breakfast lunch and tea rather than the same thing for every meal. None of these meals ever trouble the oven!

I am ND and enjoy light cream cheese ham on toast with mustard and tomato slices most lunchtimes.

Does salad + extra salad = an MN massive salad? Grin

This can be a sign of neuro divergence

Another armchair diagnoses...

In my case it's a sign that I'm a lazy git when it comes to thinking about and making food.
I've had sourdough toast for lunch 3 days this week interspersed with Easter egg chocolate. I'll happily eat whatever someone cooks for me and I've eaten out twice, I just cannot be arsed if it's just me.

Yoghurt with chopped apple, raspberries, grapes, blueberries, honey and flaked almonds is a very regular thing.

I eat something similar for most dinners at the moment. Half my plate is shredded lettuce, grated carrot, grated red cabbage and some tinned sweetcorn sprinkled on top. The rest is either jacket potato and cheese, marinaded chicken and flatbread or a salmon fillet. Bit of mayo to mix in with the salad (hate oil based dressing). I always enjoy it and am getting lots of veg so who cares?

Easy. Pizza. I could eat that every day forever and never get bored.

Me too 😁

When I was single and lived by myself, I cook something on a Sunday afternoon and eat it for the next four evenings. With lunch at work and going out on a Thurs, Fri and Sat, I was sorted for the week!

EggInANest · 21/04/2023 20:11

Avocado on wholemeal sourdough with lemon and salt and a big green salad. I could do that for 6 days.

Ditto baked potato with spinach, a gorgeous egg, Parmesan.

Next 6 days: black dahl, aubergine and coconut curry, lamb curry.

OP: I hope you have gorgeous cheese.

That's right up my street too, @Bluevelvetsofa

In fact, i think Pret charges 10 million quid for that very thing!

I'm currently fixating on Emmental.
With salt, and real butter 😍

@WellTidy - lasagne really does improve with age, doesn't it!

I imagine that when I'm finished cooking for kids I'll probably have scrambled eggs and beans on toast for dinner several times a week. The other days I'll have bagels with either hummus or cream cheese and cherry tomatoes.

whoateallthecookies · 21/04/2023 20:38

I'm fascinated that so many on here are happy to do this - I was once at a workshop overseas where we were served goat curry for both lunch and dinner every day for 5 days. It was very nice goat curry, served with rice and veg, but by day 5 I was struggling to swallow it. To be fair, it wouldn't be something I'd make myself, but I think I need variety for in my main meal (not so much breakfast/lunch).

NancyJoan · 21/04/2023 20:42

jacket potato w cold chicken and salad. Yum

ginghamstarfish · 21/04/2023 20:50

I'd love to have salad and bread every day, but would be unfair on DH who is the main breadwinner and does most other stuff except cooking. So we alternate between salad type dishes and cooked stuff. Would be quite happy to never again eat curry, stew, pasta, rice, chips, etc! If I were alone I'd live on salad, sandwiches, toast.

Pallisers · 21/04/2023 20:56

Before we had kids I'd say we ate pasta and tomato sauce 6 nights a week. I'd sometimes make it a putanesca or sometimes a bacon and tomato, but pretty much the same thing. Now the kids have more or less left home, we are back to eating it maybe 3 nights a week. We add salad these days.
