I've eaten the same thing for lunch and dinner 6 times this week..

By choice!

Kids are grown so I don't have to cook for them.

Husband and I have different work schedules so don't always eat together.

This week, I've had crusty bread with cheese and salad, and extra salad, for lunch every day and I going to have it for tea tonight too!

It's just bliss to be able to fancy something simple and have it.

What would you have every day if you could?

Rotisserie chicken
Baguette
Port Salut cheese

Hits the spot every time.

I'm fascinated that so many on here are happy to do this - I was once at a workshop overseas where we were served goat curry for both lunch and dinner every day for 5 days. It was very nice goat curry, served with rice and veg, but by day 5 I was struggling to swallow it. To be fair, it wouldn't be something I'd make myself, but I think I need variety for in my main meal (not so much breakfast/lunch).

I think I'd be the same in your shoes, @whoateallthecookies (great name btw!).

I'm enjoying myself because it's my choice. If someone was forcing repetition on me, it would probably be a different scenario.

In these days of reducing food waste, I do feel forced into it to some degree, I think the size of tins and cans and jars of things mean that when batch cooking, its difficult to make smaller portions.

I do this, will have the same thing every day for weeks, then randomly will stop and not have it for years/months.

Had a chicken goujon wrap phase, a watermelon feta olive salad phase, a soup phase. Currently in a rice cake/snack a jack phase.

DP is in a chocolate hobnob phase, he is single handedly keeping mcvities going.

@Hotvimto3 or it could be a sign that someone finds cooking an absolute bore and just takes the easiest route (me.... I do that).

Agree. When my kids aren't here I'll happily batch cook on Sunday and eat it next six nights in a row.

I live on my own now and often cook a pot of minestrone soup and eat it for either lunch or dinner all week when I’m busy at work. Just saves time and it’s healthy.

The thing I could actually eat every day - beans on toast or poached egg on toast. I don’t but I could.

My last meal would be beans on toast with cheese on the top.

shinny · 21/04/2023 21:36

I had exactly the same lunch & dinner today as it was so yummy. Smoked salmon and green salad in a crusty roll.

We thought we could live off pizza once and got fed up on day 6 - it became grim 😫

I have a cheese and tomato sandwich on brown bread with salad, tomatoes and grainy mustard for breakfast every week day. I eat it on the bus!

Daisiesandprimroses · 21/04/2023 21:54

I don’t really comprehend the whole, salad and extra salad, isn’t it all salad?

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/04/2023 21:54

From 1997-2002 I had two prawn and mayo sandwiches every work day. Bloody loved them.

No, the extra salad makes it a massive salad, instead of just an ordinary one.

AdditionalCharacter · 21/04/2023 21:58

Cheese and crackers. Never gets boring and the combinations are endless.

itsmylife7 · 21/04/2023 22:00

Curry without a doubt.

Justathrowawaycomment · 21/04/2023 22:09

When I was single I ate Dr Kargs crackers with Phadelphia, sun blush tomatoes (not sun dried), salad and seeds every dinner (except when I was out) probably for months.

It was just my favourite thing to eat.

Another armchair diagnoses...

In my case it's a sign that I'm a lazy git when it comes to thinking about and making food.
I've had sourdough toast for lunch 3 days this week interspersed with Easter egg chocolate. I'll happily eat whatever someone cooks for me and I've eaten out twice, I just cannot be arsed if it's just me.

Its not im diagnosed and I do this. Its a common feature of ADHD and Autism. Its one of the things the doctor talks to you about in the assessment.

AspinallaSmythe · 21/04/2023 22:58

It is also the sign of a very busy person!

Jelly "When you "fancy" something, it's basically your brain craving a taste/texture experience and you repeat it to get the same level of dopamine."

that's interesting - explains my repeat meals when under stress.

HeadacheEarthquake · 21/04/2023 23:25

When dh was away for 3 nights I had the same veg chilli for the whole time.so easy.

NotPrettyInPink23 · 21/04/2023 23:27

batterypark · 21/04/2023 23:27

overnight oats made with oats, muesli, chopped grapes, frozen cherries, pumpkin seeds and mixed with yoghurt. I make it every single night for breakfast. I could eat it for every meal.

HangingOver · 21/04/2023 23:32

Spaghetti with garlic and lemon courgettes and spinach. I eat it for pretty much every dinner when DP goes away.
