By choice!

Kids are grown so I don't have to cook for them.

Husband and I have different work schedules so don't always eat together.

This week, I've had crusty bread with cheese and salad, and extra salad, for lunch every day and I going to have it for tea tonight too!

It's just bliss to be able to fancy something simple and have it.

What would you have every day if you could?

I’ve had the same thing for breakfast and lunch pretty much every day for the last 3 years. It’s so much easier.

Vintagevixen · 21/04/2023 18:09

Pickled herrings, potato salad and a bag of green leaves of some description. Already ate it three times over the last seven days! Low hassle and massively healthy.

Badbudgeter · 21/04/2023 18:12

Greek salad. I buy a pot of olives and feta. Throw it over some bagged salad leaves. If I’m hungry I add some crusty bread.

Lots of things but I could live on bangers & mash if I had to. Having it tonight - Cumberland sausages, double cream mash, carrots, petitpois, gravy & ( for me) fried onions. Yummy yum yum!!

februarysunset · 21/04/2023 18:21

Cheese on toast and Heinz tomato soup.

Pasta with pesto

Smoked mackerel pate on toast with side salad

Often eat same breakfast and lunches for days. On about day 8 of soup and crackers for lunch. Breakfast is Greek yogurt and banana. Tea is different every night but because I eat with family. Alone I would eat the same thing for nights in a row.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 21/04/2023 18:27

I do this a lot, even though we’re a family of five. So I’ll cook something different every day for the kids/ DH but I’ll obsess over having whatever is the flavour of the month / six months.

Currently it’s vegetable omelettes and baked cauliflower. Vegetable omelette has to be done in a very specific way and it’s my dinner every single evening and has been for about four months. The cauliflower is an ongoing obsession of about a year. There was a shortage a while back that was very annoying!

I used to just think I was quite immature but have recently been diagnosed with OCD, specifically pure O, which I guess explains it.

Eminybob · 21/04/2023 18:29

I think it's quite common to have the same breakfast and lunch every day. Especially breakfast. I would have duck pate on toast every day for breakfast without grumble tbf.

Having the same tea every night I would find strange though. I don't even like to have, say, chicken 2 nights in a row even if prepared completely differently.

But if I was pushed to have the same meal lunch and tea for a week, it would be a jacket potato with cheese and 3 bean chilli.

Season0fTheWitch · 21/04/2023 18:32

I've done this with caesar salads many a time. I make it all from scratch so it takes a while but it's so worth it.

NoraLuka · 21/04/2023 18:39

Greek salad with loads of olive oil in summer, other times of year toast with butter. I could live on toast!

AmberGer · 21/04/2023 18:39

Sounds fab to me.
When I cook a stew I make a cauldron and eat it for lunch & tea over several days until it's gone.

RaininSummer · 21/04/2023 18:39

I will have had an identical for six days on the trot by tomorrow (black beans and quinoa chili and a bag of lentil curls) and dinner has been in pairs all week so two curries, two noodle dishes and two pizza and salad. I think it's more laziness than neuro divergence in my case. Hate cooking on a work day.

WeWereInParis · 21/04/2023 18:42

I do different dinners every day but pretty much always have a ham, cheese and mustard sandwich for lunch. I just cannot be arsed doing anything actually cooked, or having various different sandwich fillings in the fridge.
Occasionally I branch out and have a baked potato, or an omelette, but really I'm perfectly happy with my sandwich. It's not even that I love sandwiches, I just don't care enough about food to vary it.

OnMyWayToSenility · 21/04/2023 18:42

I only cook amazing stuff because kids 🤣
When they aren't here I could quite happily live in ham on toast and crisps dipped in taramasalata

GospelAccordingToMum · 21/04/2023 18:43

I bring the same packed lunch to work everyday Mon-Fri. Wholemeal bagel with houmous & salad + banana + satsuma + handful of almonds for a snack.

It’s easy, reasonably healthy and I don’t have to think about it.

If I lived alone and didn’t have to feed two hungry teens and DH, I’d probably live off pasta for dinner!

Hotvimto3 · 21/04/2023 17:39

This can be a sign of neuro divergence

Or simply, lack of desire to make a mess cooking when feeding only yourself. Food can be simple.

Zippitydoodaa · 21/04/2023 18:44

Mince , mince and more mince 🤣
Bolognese mince ,
Chilli mince,
Gravy and mince.
Beside a huge serving of iceberg lettuce and tomato.
My favourite !!

MannyTeddy · 21/04/2023 18:45

Sushi using salmon.

ChiChaNaYubi · 21/04/2023 18:47

I could eat chicken wings everyday.

NotHooray · 21/04/2023 18:51

Mine is lemon and coriander cous cous with air fryer sprouts and broccoli, topped with cashew nuts and Nando's sauce. I've had it a good 4/5 times this week Blush

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 21/04/2023 19:01

I could eat a full roast dinner every day! Rotating between pork, chicken, turkey and beef. Delicious. Yorkshire puddings and stuffing with all of them too.

Georgyporky · 21/04/2023 19:05

That's my idea of culinary hell !
Although I like some of the snacks mentioned, I wouldn't want to eat them more than once a week at most. (Some are in the never-never category.)
Variety really is the spice of life.

Bullshot · 21/04/2023 19:07

I do this often when following a shred plan. I cook for 6 days on a Sunday - all my meals and snacks are prepped and ready to go .

saves a lot of time

pd339 · 21/04/2023 19:08

dahl, chapatti and rice
