How many countries have you been to?

The north south east west thread got me thinking of all the countries I have visited.

I put mine into the Been app. It lists all the countries in the world so it gives you ideas of places to visit.
I've been to 79 countries.

But to be fair, it does count the uK as 4 different countries. So maybe 76.

About thirty. Tend to go to a lot of places more than once, however, for example different states in the USA and Australia most years as I have family there.

I'm in my early 40's. DC's have been to many more than I had by their ages, and I've been to many more than my parents ever have managed!

So have people included Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as different countries? I've only classes them as one country - the United Kingdom (and not included that as it's my home country).

All the Greek Islands are Greece - one country. Same as US territories etc. Madeira & Portugal is one country, etc etc.

On that basis I'd be adding 100 more 😂

--I've just counted up on one of those app thingies and it says 57. But not all the "countries" that it lists are actually independent countries, eg. it combines England, Scotland, NI and Wales as one ("United kingdom") but gives Jersey and Guernsey a separate listing each.

40 - i don’t include the countries of the UK. DDs have done 25, but due to their increasing concerns about the environment, I don’t think their count will increase substantially now. Ditto us. My only regret is not visiting St Petersburg.

England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, Iceland, Nepal, Norway, Saint Lucia, Peru, Ecuador (including Amazon rainforest and Galapagos Islands), America.

That's all I can think of in my gin-fuelled state 😁
Ages 29 and don't include a lot of my childhood holidays as if I can't remember where it was then I don't think it counts (even if someone has told me where it was afterwards 😂, e.g I think I've been to Canada but I don't remember it.)

Love travelling. Lots of these have been with my now husband 😁 between approx 18-25 years unfortunately didn't manage to go anywhere and obviously the pandemic hasn't helped.
Have been to some of these places more than once too 😁

45 - racked up quite a few during my backpacker days including nine in Africa on the same trip.
But haven’t been abroad since 2017, because of kids and then the pandemic!

USA (but only because of a delayed flight which meant a 24-hour stop in LA; didn't see anything beyond the hotel and the road to it from the airport)
