How many countries have you been to?

The north south east west thread got me thinking of all the countries I have visited.

I've been to some countries many many times but in terms of actual countries:

1. England (many times to many places)
2. Scotland (about 8 times)
3. Isle of Man x 1
4. France x 10
5. Germany x 5
6. Italy (usually twice a year)
7. Belgium x 3
8. The Netherlands x 7
9. Monacco x 1

10. The Vatican x 2 11. Hungary x 2 12. Poland x 3 13. Latvia x 1 14. Czech Republic x 2 15. Spain x multiple times many places 16. USA x 3 17. Australia x 5 18. China x 1 19. Thailand x 1 20. Sweden x 2 21. Northern Ireland x multiple times 22. Portugal x 1 23. Canada x 1 24. Denmark x 1

Jersey & Guernsey aren't a part of England like the Isle of Wight is.

I think it's fair enough to count them, if people want to. Google classes them under their own 'country' for marketing regions, and if Google says so then who are we to argue

I really want to go to: Kenya, Ghana, Brazil, Trinidad and just generally more of the Caribbean, Egypt, Jordan. Wanted to go to Russia and Syria but not sure that’s happening any time soon.

They're not official countries though. There are officially 195 countries. Those are the only ones I'd count.

The UK isn’t a country. It’s 4 countries" -incorrect - all classed as one country.

The Britannica Encyclopedia website gives an alphabetic list! Helps to avoid confusion, e.g England, N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Channel Islands, all under the UK. So helpful! Unfortunately it means I can't add many 'countries' as they belong under another, but I'm on 35 according to the Britannica list.

Never been outside the UK.

Not many: UK, southern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Tunisia, USA.

Couldn’t afford overseas holidays as a kid and DH is too disabled to travel far these days so can’t see the list expanding, but you never know.
