North - Norway
South - New Zealand
East - New Zealand
West - Costa Rica

I was quite surprised by two of my answers. A lot of countries aren't where I thought they were in relation to each other.

This is very insular and small potatoes in comparison, but we once set ourselves a challenge (and completed it) to visit the four extremities of Great Britain in 12 months:

North: Dunnet Head
East: Lowestoft Ness
South: The Lizard
West: Ardnamurchan Point

No offence to any Suffolk MNers, but I will say that three of these places are truly outstandingly beautiful and will delight you if you ever have the chance to visit them!

That's a very good point, actually: going to Greenwich would qualify as the furthest east and the furthest west that you could go in the world!

Good point, I've also crossed the international date line but not sure being in an aeroplane counts
