Would you expect a refund?

Hi! Imagine if you ordered a few dishes from a caterer. Total came to 60 pounds. You paid in advance.

You were supposed to pick your food up on Friday but are too busy so tell the caterer you would pick the food up on Saturday instead but Saturday comes and you're not able to pick it up (and caterer can't deliver because they live around 1 hour away).
Sunday the food would go bad.

Would you expect a refund, a partial refund, or no refund?

No refund. Is this a reverse?

ClandestineAdulation · 01/04/2023 15:20

No refund. Unfair for the caterer to have to keep hold of food that they were expecting to go; space costs money.

TyneTeas · 01/04/2023 15:20

No refund

PinkPondQueen · 01/04/2023 15:20

Definitely no refund!

ElaOfSalisbury · 01/04/2023 15:21

No refund

Gufo · 01/04/2023 15:21

No refund. I'm guessing this is a reverse so stand your ground!

No refund. Is this a reverse?

Yes, but I'm trying to see it from the client's poin of view as they said that most people would pay a 50% deposit and the rest once they picked the food up

Why should the caterer lose money because you aren't organised? No refund!

Keymap · 01/04/2023 15:22

Okay, thank you all for your replies

No refund.

Is this a reverse?

it can't be a reverse as the OP hasn't stated a position. (But they are clearly the caterer)

Chasingsquirrels · 01/04/2023 15:23

No refund.
They are taking thr piss, M&S, Waitrose etc food in advance orders are pay in advance.

Coraline353 · 01/04/2023 15:23

Caterer provided the full service and goods they were paid for. Not their fault it wasn't picked up. So no refund.

Starlightstarbright1 · 01/04/2023 15:24

Yabu for posting a reverse

Gladiaterf · 01/04/2023 15:24

No refund.

Elieza · 01/04/2023 15:25

No refund.

A contract was made on the basis of the food being cooked fresh and ready for collection at a set time.

The customer changed this and the caterer obliged although they didn’t have to.

The customer then pissed about. Again. All the customers fault. The customer should honour the contract (pay in full). End of story.

Thise who pay half now and half on collection would probably be black listed if they didn’t turn up to get the food/pay the balance. Theyve breached their contract. I know it’s unlikely to be taken to the small claims court but it is what it is!

GreenLeavesRustling · 01/04/2023 15:26

No refund. What a waste!

SpecialControlGroup · 01/04/2023 15:26

No I wouldn't expect a refund. The caterer has made the food as requested, my poor planning is not their problem, they fulfilled their obligation

Jonei · 01/04/2023 15:26

No refund.

Starlightstarbright1 · 01/04/2023 15:24

Yabu for posting a reverse

Why?

lpeez · 01/04/2023 15:27

@Starlightstarbright1

What's wrong with a reverse?

WhatFreshHeckle · 01/04/2023 15:28

This isn't a reverse though. Her op didn't say who she was in the scenario.

I wouldn't expect a refund. They're being cheeky if they are

Yabu for posting a reverse

It's not a reverse its a basic statement of the facts

Veryfishy · 01/04/2023 15:29

No refund ( and next time get the client to pay in full , in advance )

WhatFreshHeckle · 01/04/2023 15:30

A reverse would have been something like;

I can't believe this! I ordered food from a caterer and said I'd pick it up. She refused to deliver even though I couldn't get it on either of the days I'd said I'd get them. She won't give me a refund aibu?

Dacadactyl · 01/04/2023 15:31

What? Of course this client should pay in full they should be embarrassed to expect any money back whatsoever.
