Is ANYONE not going away on holiday this Easter?

I feel like I’m the only one of my friends with school aged DC to not be going away this Easter holiday. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Tried to arrange some meet ups etc and everyone I’ve asked is off to France/Spain/Center Parcs and won’t be around.

Looks like it will just be me and DC for nearly three weeks! Better bust out the craft box Confused

We're not! I've planned something for nearly every day though. Trips to museums, parks, Easter egg hunts.. anything I can think of to keep us busy!

Houseyvibe · 29/03/2023 18:13

We are going nowhere. My 17 year old has first set of A level mocks immediately after the holiday and they are the prediction ones for UCAS so wouldn’t go away

MrsJaneyLloydFoxe · 29/03/2023 18:14

To clarify - DC are 5 and 2!

We're not! I can't see the point of going at Easter, as the weather is awful almost everywhere - even abroad, unless you go long haul.

We're having new windows fitted the first week - fun, fun, fun - so have to stick around for that. Will do day trips and see family the second week.

TractorComesFirst · 29/03/2023 18:16

We aren’t. Farmer DH will be calving/trying to
sow. Will try and do some day trips but it will just be me on my on own with three wee ones so most likely will be at home with the craft box too.

icebearforpresident · 29/03/2023 18:18

We’re staying home. Only once have we went away for Easter and that’s because going away during the (Scottish) Easter holidays meant we didn’t have to sell a kidney to be able to afford a trip to Disneyland Paris.

TrianglePlayer · 29/03/2023 18:21

Going nowhere and working throughout 😔

HouseofHolbein · 29/03/2023 18:22

I'm not. We both work retail and we aren't allowed time off at Easter. Or Christmas.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/03/2023 18:22

We're just going to family in Ireland for 5 days over the long weekend, but otherwise I have to work. Most people around here are going away somewhere sunny and Mediterranean for a proper holiday - I comfort myself that DS gets bored on proper holidays after 1 day so it ends up being very frustrating anyway.

CMOTDibbler · 29/03/2023 18:24

I'm not. In fact to celebrate Easter the builders are starting on Monday and will be ripping the back of my house off

PleaseStopSayingHuBbY · 29/03/2023 18:25

We're not going away.
DC will probably play out with friends if it stops raining!

Marchforward · 29/03/2023 18:27

Me. Will probably for a day out to NT property and to some free museums.

BendingSpoons · 29/03/2023 18:29

We're going to stay at the in-laws for a few days but no other plans other than the dentist and a blood test! Some vague plans e.g. go to the funfair but nothing concrete.

TheOnlyMrsW · 29/03/2023 18:31

We're not - DD17 was supposed to be working but has just had her shifts cancelled as not enough people signed up (football camp so maybe most people here are going away!!!). Bit miffed as could really have done with a break but she'll catch up on sleep and I've got short weeks planned so will chillout at home instead

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 29/03/2023 18:36

We're not either - DCs too busy revising for A levels and GCSEs - in the case of the former their first public exams the poor things due to covid :(

Delphigirl · 29/03/2023 18:38

Moi. But DH is taking DD skiing. I’m going to get so much work done AND sort out my closet AND have long chats to my dogs….

SirChenjins · 29/03/2023 18:39

We’re not - DS is revising for exams and attending revision masterclasses. Going away at Easter is always a bit hit or miss - the weather if often rubbish. When mine were little I used to like doing day trips when it was nice and pottering in the house or doing indoor things locally when wasn’t.

stayathomer · 29/03/2023 18:41

Working all Easter. I’m glad I’m not going away. All that hassle … sigh!

ipswichwitch · 29/03/2023 18:44

No, we’re not going away. We’re too skint after doing a lot of work on the house, and COL taking its toll. DH will be off with the DC one week and I’m off the other so at least they’re not having to go to holiday clubs. We’ll let the DC have friends over for days out - whichever ones are also staying home!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 29/03/2023 18:44

Nope, although we have in the past and we were away last weekend.

One of the benefits of not having DC, we get to go away in term time.

My BFF is coming to stay for the whole of Easter weekend which will be bloody brilliant as we live 4 hours apart.

QueefQueen80s · 29/03/2023 18:44

Nope, can't afford it

Leakingtoilet · 29/03/2023 18:45

Not only are we not going away, I am working the entire holiday (except bank hols)

Floofyduffypuddy · 29/03/2023 18:47

Nope.

Roselilly36 · 29/03/2023 18:48

Not going away, we avoid going anywhere on bank hols as the traffic is just appalling.

Susurrar · 29/03/2023 18:49

Nope, not going away either. AND I only have 2 extra days off on top of the bank holidays.
We are going away 4 times later in the year, I don’t have enough holidays to cover all this and the Easter break on top. And it would mean less ££ to spend when we’re away in the summer.
DS understands that, he’ll be at holiday club 3 days, all 3 are proper days out with some planned activities. 2 days are covered by DP so that’s nearly the 2 weeks done.
