Is ANYONE not going away on holiday this Easter?

I feel like I’m the only one of my friends with school aged DC to not be going away this Easter holiday. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Tried to arrange some meet ups etc and everyone I’ve asked is off to France/Spain/Center Parcs and won’t be around.

Looks like it will just be me and DC for nearly three weeks! Better bust out the craft box Confused

I am but I'm going to Scotland caravan park to visit family £350 for a week with discount 🤣🤣. My big holiday is in August.

We aren’t. Farmer DH will be calving/trying to
sow. Will try and do some day trips but it will just be me on my on own with three wee ones so most likely will be at home with the craft box too.

Can they not " help" dad?
We used to make signs for the calves pens lol.
And cow cutter cookies
Calving time was a very usable activity planner😄

allfurcoatnoknickers · 29/03/2023 21:16

I'm not because I'll be 37 weeks pregnant 😫.

Bananalanacake · 29/03/2023 21:17

Going to Legoland for 2 days then to a holiday house on the island of Romo, Denmark, for 3 days.

UndercoverCop · 29/03/2023 21:18

We're not but we are away in May...

Shodan · 29/03/2023 21:20

Not only are we not going away for Easter, we aren't even going to be able to do very much because ds2 (15) is having serial casting on both legs for 7 weeks, starting on Tuesday.

I think we'll be doing a fair amount of 'lovely drives out' so he doesn't go too completely stir crazy...

DelilahBucket · 29/03/2023 21:20

We're not, can't afford it. We've got family to see and beyond that we're both self employed and very much working.

SockQueen · 29/03/2023 21:21

I'm working the whole way through - just started a new job and not able to take leave yet.

Paulisexcluded · 29/03/2023 21:23

Got older DC and haven't been away in ages..going just with DH for a 1 night city break.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/03/2023 21:23

We’re not going anywhere. I’ve not got any time off work either.

ds1 will mostly sleep and ds2 has loads of schoolwork and revising to do. As long as there’s plenty of food available they’ll be fine!

transformandriseup · 29/03/2023 21:24

I'm working most of it and plan to have the odd day out. I don't have any friends or family with a holiday planned.

thaegumathteth · 29/03/2023 21:31

No we aren't . Ds has his exams starting 26/4. When they were littler We couldn't afford to go away but I used to do park / beach / free museum / kids cinema / art /
Swimming etc etc

SmileyClare · 29/03/2023 21:35

looks like it’ll be just me and dc for 3 weeks

I thought most school had 2 weeks off (3rd- 17th April)?
Is it a state school?

Do you have family (who aren’t going away!) to go and visit ?

Sometimes there are community events organised in the local area- kids Easter egg hunts and similar.

Girasoli · 29/03/2023 21:37

We're not, though we are feeding the neighbours pets while they are on holiday.

Easter is busy for us between church and birthdays so there's stuff to look forward to. I've also got a week off work so I can do some DIY and days out with DC.

Ah that sounds difficult for your ds! Hope some of his friends can visit to keep his spirits up x

Shodan · 29/03/2023 21:43

@SmileyClare Yes I've told him he can have his friends round as much as he likes- I think also he'll be able to manage the cinema with them, although obviously I'll have to drop him right to the door!

Teapleasemilknosugar · 29/03/2023 21:46

Nope I'm not, baby due date in the Easter holidays for me!

Baneofmyexistence · 29/03/2023 21:50

No we’re not. We get two weeks off in the May holidays here so we go away for our one holiday (in the UK) the second week of that when most other people are back in school. That’s as much as we can afford really.

We're not- 3 small DC plus me and DH. DH will be on holiday for 2 weeks but is going into work (a school) for meetings and some A level revision classes over 3 days.

We'll do things with the DC and see PIL. We live at the coast so lots of walks, beach time and bike rides for DC.

We're going on a boat out to the Farne Islands one day.

mondaytosunday · 29/03/2023 21:56

Nope. My daughter has A levels this year so it's all revision and Art coursework. We didn't go away at Xmas or any half term either.

SmileyClare · 29/03/2023 22:13

Well based on this thread, there’s not a huge spike in families going on an Easter holiday.
I would have thought it would be the opposite with the current COL.

Some families might be choosing to holiday now instead of the summer as it’s slightly cheaper as a pp said upthread.

We can’t afford a holiday abroad at all for the foreseeable future, I’m sure we’re not the only ones.

evtheria · 29/03/2023 22:15

Not going away!

SmileyClare · 29/03/2023 22:19

Teapleasemilknosugar · 29/03/2023 21:46

Nope I'm not, baby due date in the Easter holidays for me!

Good luck, my youngest was a spring baby, it’s a lovely time of year to have a baby
Eat lots of Easter eggs to keep your strength up Wink

Mammyloveswine · 29/03/2023 22:19

I'm skint after 4 days of teacher strikes last month...

Tibbb · 29/03/2023 22:21

We're not. Might go out for a day trip in the motorhome, but otherwise no plans to travel.

Please don't feel bad @MrsJaneyLloydFoxe Flowers
