Is ANYONE not going away on holiday this Easter?

I feel like I’m the only one of my friends with school aged DC to not be going away this Easter holiday. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Tried to arrange some meet ups etc and everyone I’ve asked is off to France/Spain/Center Parcs and won’t be around.

Looks like it will just be me and DC for nearly three weeks! Better bust out the craft box Confused

Nope, we’re not going away.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/03/2023 19:16

We never used to go away at Easter when the (now teenage) DC were little. When they were in primary school I used to put them into a camp for some of the time to break up the boredom.

ChrisPPancake · 29/03/2023 19:21

I'm not. Got the long weekend off and that's it. Dc are teens and will be entertaining themselves.

zurala · 29/03/2023 19:32

We never have. Can't afford it. Most parents at our completely normal state primary go away every single school holiday and I have no idea how they afford it. We can't even afford a summer holiday this year with prices so high.

I find it really odd how normal going away six times a year seems to have become.

IhearyouClemFandango · 29/03/2023 19:33

We're not. We went at half term

DrMadelineMaxwell · 29/03/2023 19:34

No. DD2 is on the run up to A levels and we have kept it free. She has at least one day of revision in college so far.

Will be the same in May too.

We are going away in July.

laddersandsnakes12 · 29/03/2023 19:44

Nope, staying at home this Easter. Have a few things planned - museum, picnic, baking, arts and crafts etc but most of my sons friends are away so there won't be many play dates over Easter, can see us being very bored but we'll try and keep busy. Luckily my husband is off for a week over Easter so at least it's not just me handling the parenting the whole 2 weeks!

Going nowhere and working throughout 😔

Same !

ToHellBackAndBeyond · 29/03/2023 19:58

Not us. Two eldest are away for Easter weekend, two youngest are not, we're working (self employed, living the dream).
When did this whole thing happen for holidays away at anytime other than the summer break and for people to be expected to be out and about all the time?

Echobelly · 29/03/2023 20:06

Not us, we hardly ever do as Passover almost always falls right in the middle and it's very hard to manage the dietary rules away from home.

But next year we finally have an Easter where Passover is at a different time - we have a vague plan to visit Morocco then, which we've been trying to do forever but (much to my husband's annoyance) I keep having to remind him it's way too hot for the rest of the family in July/August as he brings it up every time we talk about a summer holiday! He loves 40C type temperatures but the rest of us can't cope at all.

Hedjwitch · 29/03/2023 20:10

Going nowhere here. Easter holidays abroad not a thing in my socio economic level.

babynoname22 · 29/03/2023 20:17

We aren't. We can't afford it

We’re not as can’t book holiday over the Easter period.

mummabubs · 29/03/2023 20:41

We're not, can't afford to! Will see family over the weekend but that's all for us x

familyissues12345 · 29/03/2023 20:45

We're having one night away, but that's it. We normally do go away at Easter, but have a bigger trip planned this year so holidays are a bit different than usual

Alwayswonderedwhy · 29/03/2023 20:47

Nope. Oldest has to revise for A levels so staying at home.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/03/2023 20:48

I honestly don't even want to go away six times a year. Makes me tired thinking about it!

Greensleevevssnotnose · 29/03/2023 20:49

Me

SunhatsAndFlipFlops · 29/03/2023 20:56

Nope!

We have 2 dcs, 3 yrs and 2.5 months old.
Dh booked 10 days off work and we have planned days out instead. Chester Zoo, Windermere, a couple of national trust sites that have playgrounds, a day out in Liverpool to go to all the free museums/galleries. As it’s Easter, there’s always things going on, often free.

We have a holiday abroad booked for later in the year, the first time abroad as a family.

WhiteFire · 29/03/2023 21:00

Going away to my parents for Easter weekend, that is as good as it gets.

Prior to COVID we would often go away Easter, but just hasn't happened since.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/03/2023 21:02

We are going away this Easter. Because it was cheaper for us to go now rather than in the summer holidays, this way we’re able to afford to give the kids a holiday.

PartnersInCrime · 29/03/2023 21:02

Seeing grandparents for a few days over the long weekend so just spending money on fuel and food...

thaisweetchill · 29/03/2023 21:05

Absolutely no plans for Easter and we have a DS3. Hoping it's nice weather and we can get the BBQ out (hahaha)

tinytemper66 · 29/03/2023 21:07

I am visiting my son who lives in Norfolk. That's all. For 2 days. Will be home for Easter.
