Good luck for exam Sprouts

Silkierabbit · 18/07/2023 00:00

Time to do wordle

HelenaJustina · 18/07/2023 06:50

Oh turnitin! My tutor runs all assignments through it to check for copy and pasting. And then uploads the results to the learning portal. She also told me that my spelling and grammar had improved now that I was using Grammarly I’m not and it hasn’t changed! Best of British with the exam tomorrow!

Deathraystare · 18/07/2023 14:32

@bizzey

I love wisteria! Mum had some growing on an -I want to say Arbour but not sure. Anyway it made the sitting room a bit dark but we kept the wisteria growing!

@Havoc

I have fond memories of a little ferry -in fact a small train that went down to a ferry. This was in the New Forest. A small town called Hythe, not to be confused with the one in Kent! It took visitors and commuters over to Southampton. This is in England for those that may be confused! It is still operating.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/07/2023 16:27

Helena, fingers crossed for your exam! 🤞
Death, that sounds fun! I love exploring. 😊
Silkie, how did you do on Wordle? I do it as well, then Spelling Bee, Letters Boxed, Tiles and the new one: Connections. In that order. 💁‍♀️
Sprouts, you will have a great day no matter what you choose! 😄 It's so fun checking out a new city. I'm planning on visiting the Bill Reid gallery in the next week -Something I haven't been to.

Looks to be another very warm day today. ☀️
Taking Havoc to first optometry exam later this afternoon. Just finishing breakfast and trying to enjoy my latte, but every time a bus or truck goes by Havoc insists to be picked up to watch it drive by. (Buses are every 15 mins). Have got a load of towels in the wash.

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 18/07/2023 19:12

On a gardening note .....I have had to do some gardening from the inside out 😳.

I have a wisteria bush that will just not be controlled.

I have a window that is nearly always opened and hard to get to .

The wisteria has crawled all the way in to the inside .

Got the prunners out and chopped what I can .

I want it all cut back but gardener keeps saying it is not the right season .

It has a life of it own ...

It is like a triffid 😂😂!

This made me think of the greenhouse at a university I visited recently. It has a plant that has grown into part of the building and back out again. Here's a photo I took.

I'm a little unnerved that music just started playing from my laptop while I was scrolling through this thread, then I got to the bottom of the thread and it stopped. Is there a random ad that's doing it maybe?

MissConductUS · 18/07/2023 20:33

It's the spirit of the plant. It must not have liked having it's picture posted on MN. 😁

Jack is quite the dapper duck, @ReleaseTheDucksOfWar.

There is still a tiny lion lurking in the garden. The good news is that the flowers are doing well, despite the heat.

ZZ that is so cool! We have a wisteria over a pergola outside the kitchen door. Given half a chance it would do exactly that. It was already well established when we moved in and we’ve been here 17 years since. The root system is lifting some paving slabs but we’d have to damage the plant significantly to sort it, so we live with the trip hazard. I love the plant so much most of the time, the colour, the intense scent as it warms in the sunshine. I do not love sweeping up every petal as they are tracked into my house!

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 18/07/2023 22:05

That's a lovely looking tiny lion @MissConductUS :)

Silkierabbit · 18/07/2023 22:28

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar Love your duck

Lovely lion MissC

Wasn't the greatest Wordle Havoc Think it was 5th attempt

Just been swimming and to jacuzzi with dh which was nice. Drinking coffee very milky but half asleep

Had meeting with cahms and also had email back from LA.

DD went to work and then to boyfriends.

DS is just gaming, games where cats and chickens take over the world.

HildaTablet · 18/07/2023 22:56

@ZZTopGuitarSolo we inherited an indoor grapevine when we bought our house - the root grows outside then it comes through a hole in the garden-room wall and is trained up across the (glass) roof. I prune it back every year and we get a good crop of grapes but unfortunately they’re no good for eating as they’re small and very pippy. We have the juice from it though, if I can be bothered to press it!

bizzey · 18/07/2023 23:05

Catching up

Love how some of you love wisteria... hoping for those good vibes to pass on to me ....cos at the moment....I am not feeling it 😂😂

bizzey · 18/07/2023 23:16

But ....positive post from me as always...

I have my outfit sorted for DS 's graduation 🎓🎓!!

My boring palarva of even getting this outfit sorted is even to boring for this thread

1 week to go ...and I will be having a night in a hotel room all by myself ..
Unless the youngest decides to come down to stay the night before with me .,( I booked a twin ).

It is his birthday today and my dad's who passed away 7 years ago last week .

We had a quiet day .
He liked his presents and card I gave him
(He smiled !! )

Love all the duck photos 🤩

bizzey · 18/07/2023 23:20

OMG !!!

that made so much more sense in my head as I was typing it than what is written 🤣😲😝

IWanderedLonely · 19/07/2023 06:53

Thinking I'll do a roast for tea. It's not really salad weather.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2023 17:15

Iwandered, a roast on Wednesday sounds ambitious! It must not be too hot where you are? What time is dinner? 😛
Bizzey, I had to google "palarva." 😂

Temp should be around 30c here today.
I was on the deck and smelled some cooking... someone is getting a hot dinner ready early before it's too hot! 💡
Watched the news earlier. Average new car price is just over $66k and used is $39k.
The Powerball jackpot in the States is $1 billion with an upfront cash payout of $516 million.
Havoc was watching busses and trucks go by earlier (7am)6 saying, Bye bye bus or Bye bye truck as they passed. 🥰

MissConductUS · 19/07/2023 18:52

Fab duck news! Mama Duck and her duckling survived the deluge. I feared they would have been washed out of the reservoir during the storm.

Enough roads have reopened that I can drive to work in about 45 minutes, vs the normal 20-25 minutes. This is much better than the hour and fifteen minutes it would have taken me last week. My regular commute likely won't be doable until mid-August, but I'll work from home more often as circumstances permit.

The recovery efforts have put lots of blokes in high-viz vests and hardhats all over, fixing things.

So happy for mummy 🦆🦆🦆!!

bizzey · 19/07/2023 20:08

Mum...I just googled it my self in case I was using the wrong word!!

The "r" is not in the spelling...but maybe as a Londoner we pronounce words differently and I always pronounce it with a long sound in the middle !!

Didn't know it wasn't a common word ! 🤔😊😂

mathanxiety · 19/07/2023 20:21

Good news about the ducks, MissC. Glad you're able to get out again safely.

I'm stuck into two of the books I got at the library sale. I made enough curry last night to last about a week so I'll have time to get some reading done this evening.

Silkierabbit · 19/07/2023 20:26

Just a quiet day here about from the trilling Floof but even he has been sleepy. DH currently playing piano. Floof is trilling, he attempts to play the piano as well but is a bit heavy pawed.

I just did some hoovering and ordered a few things. DD has been to see boyfriend and working, she is back home later. DS just ipadding but did eat veg in the Thai meal and fruit crumble and getting a few carrots in things.

bizzey · 19/07/2023 20:35

My phone case has decinterated !
IE phone not stuck in case my more !!

Using it without case is really weird.
It is so light ...I know I am going to drop it soon .

Lovely floral case arriving tomorrow!
