Thanks Half DD had asked for veg lasagne and they when we made it she exclaimed I didn't expect the veg lasagne to have real veg in it 😂Then she ate it and said its very good.
Tired as 1.1 metres of cat woke me up at 5am jumping above my head then to the side table then poking me for a game. Talk of the devil I have a trilling Floof coming this way.

mathanxiety · 06/07/2023 03:48

We had a quiet Fourth. BLTs for dinner followed by Jello cheesecake Blush , then fireworks, home, and off to bed as everyone had work today.

We had another rain event this evening - nothing like the weekend, but at this point there is nowhere for the water to go.

There's a lot of roadwork around town - in this neck of the woods there are two seasons, Winter and Roadwork - so there are lots of hi viz sightings and also traffic jams.

MissConductUS · 06/07/2023 20:39

Silkie, one of our cats loves ham too. And lobster. Good luck with your never-ending jousts with various school authorities. We just got the tuition bill for DD's fall semester at uni. It's about what we paid for our last car, but fortunately, only one more to go before she's done.

It's been hot here this week, about 35C here this afternoon. I still managed to get out for a walk, and quite happily saw a mama duck with three ducklings. I don't think she's the same one we had before. Apologies for the poor picture quality, they were way out in the middle of the reservoir.

Fireworks sounds great Math love fireworks.

Thanks MissC and yes university bills are 🙀

Have heard today there will be a meeting early next week between LA Head of SEND and Head of school to discuss my suggestion so its a maybe at least.

Just had steak in red wine sauce with mixed veg and new potatoes. Floof had more ham and trills at the word ham and opens his mouth really wide.

So much to catch up on !

It is like reading a novel.

Love the foods ..(ohh I wish I could cook !)
Stag picture is fab !

I have a new washing machine arriving tomorrow!
Well today actually.

7-7 time slot.
I have cleared out the bit in the cupboard next to machine where the plug is for the removal and installation.

I am very embarrassed about how much cleaning products I have in there, that I have never used or even knew were in there !!

I think I but things with good intentions.... but the intentions ....just never appear 😂😂.

But on a positive as always ...

I dropped a bottle of something...lid split ..it went everywhere....

and the floor, cupboard doors, side of "goodbye machine" have been wiped and cleaned in the spilt stuff ...

Everything is immaculate....maybe I need to drop cleaning products on the floor more often...I could end up with a how home 🏠🏠.

Nahhh 😂😂!

bizzey · 07/07/2023 01:15

Why does my phone change my words !!

Hope it all made sense

HelenaJustina · 07/07/2023 06:39

Happy Friday everyone, hope you have a good day.

Off to work to send my way through the chaos of another strike day (over 50% of children still in school) but DC1 has Explorer camp this weekend so late night collection this evening… my weekly g&t is calling!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 07/07/2023 13:22

It’s been lovely having a short week because of July 4th, which mostly makes up for it having been rained out here. Even the fireworks here had to be delayed a day because it was so stormy.

So happy Friday from here!

mathanxiety · 07/07/2023 16:21

Hope you get to sit down and enjoy that well-earned G&T, Helena.

After the rain cleared off we've been enjoying some clear, warm weather, ideal for giving the apartment a good once over with a mop, sorting through the dreaded cupboards under the sinks, and cleaning out the porch off my kitchen where junk of all sorts goes to die. I have the day off today and that's what I'm up to.

MissConductUS · 07/07/2023 21:02

ZZ, it's been really stormy here too. The short week has been lovely anyway.

DD has texted me a reminder that she's going to a concert some distance away in Connecticut tonight, leaving straight from her internship, so we won't see her for dinner.

I'm a bit sad for mama duck. I saw her on the reservoir with just two of the three ducklings I spotted yesterday.

I almost forgot, the saga of DD's laptop continues. When she came home from uni, DH had the battery replaced, as it wasn't holding a charge for long. That's understandable, as it's five years old.

Last night, DD complained that the battery wasn't charging, so the shop must have installed it wrong. DH pointed out that it's been fine for weeks, took DS's laptop charger, and tried it. It worked, so her charger had failed. A new one is out for delivery today from Amazon.

Thank goodness I have DH to deal with things like this.

Math that sounds very satisfying and productive! I did enjoy the g&t, it was soured only slightly by drinking it whilst working on yet another course assignment. It is due Monday and I’d like to be half way through before I give up and go to bed!

Silkierabbit · 07/07/2023 23:13

Just been swimming and did 100 lengths and steam room and sauna. Otherwise don't think much happened today.

IWanderedLonely · 08/07/2023 09:17

Had a lovely evening, went to a food and drink festival in the park, then had a wander round the fair and people-watched. I don't normally like crowds, but this is my exception. Today is carnival day, which is my 2nd favourite day of the year (after Christmas Day), the weather forecast is for thunderstorms.Hmm

Silkierabbit · 08/07/2023 23:08

That sounds lovely Iwandered Hope you had a good time again today.

Just a quiet day here. I did some hoovering (looking at you Floof), DH did some gardening, DD went to boyfriends. Had egg sandwiches and cream tea for lunch and homemade veg lasagne for dinner.

sueelleker · 09/07/2023 09:28

Since I lost one of my dogs a week ago, I've been letting his Mum come upstairs at night if she wanted company. This morning she jumped on the bed for the first time, and we had a lovely cuddle!

IWanderedLonely · 09/07/2023 10:55

Sue I'm sorry about your dog. They always leave us too soon.

HildaTablet · 09/07/2023 15:02

I’m doing some essential but boring work at the house we’re doing up. Stripped old wallpaper yesterday, took 4 rubble bags to the tip in the pouring rain (with thunder and lightning accompaniment), will do a bit more today and then that’s a whole room done.

Just been out doing weeding in hot sunshine and as soon as I came inside to cool down and maybe check up on progress at Wimbledon it clouded over and is set to pour down again. Glad I got a bit done, at least. Now looking forward to a curry tonight with family; I feel I’ve earned it!

Silkierabbit · 09/07/2023 15:38

Sorry about your dog Sue, lovely the other one came for a cuddle.

Enjoy a well deserved curry Hilda

I have done some more hoovering, thanks Floof 😂and then we had veg lasagne for lunch and just had a Portuguese tart and cup of tea. Floof has been gaming and on the bed with me, he can stretch across the whole width of the double bed now, I put my foot out and he gently pushed it as he needed the whole width.

DH is just going to Currys to get another ipad for DS. We have already filled the green bin for tomorrow but need to fill the blue one (recycling) DD is at her boyfriend's. She was unwell last week but getting better.

Hope you are better now Havoc

Thinking about you Prok if you still read this sending lots of love.

MissConductUS · 09/07/2023 18:48

sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear dog passing. That's always so hard.

Hilda, we've had lots of thunderstorms here for the last few days, and more this afternoon and tonight. We were able to cook out last night, and the men are doing roast chicken tonight.

DD's boyfriend has been on the west coast for the last few weeks. He flew back yesterday and DD picked him up at the airport. She left bright and early this morning to spend the day with him.

We still have loads of blueberries from our picking expedition last weekend. If I get motivated, I may bake blueberry muffins.

Our tiny lion lurked among the plants on the deck this morning before it started raining.

We have lots of wild raspberry bushes on the property, and they've started to bear fruit a bit early this year. They're all along the roadside too, and when they really come in people stop their cars to pick them.

Sprouts, had tacos at Tacofino Ocho (5th/Ontario) a few days ago. Very good. Hadn't been there in a while! Had I not been so full would've had dessert and coffee at Purebread across the street. Easily accessible by water taxi from Plaza of Nations to Olympic Village and a 5-10 min walk up Ontario or by biking seawall.
Olympic Village has two restaurants also good. Tap & Barrel with water view beside rec centre and Craft Beer across the (small) square. The area is lovely to walk around.

I haven't mentioned it before, but please avoid Main/Hastings area and be careful if you wander to Chinatown (day only). Chinatown can be great, but keep your wits about you. Drugs and crime are rampant. Lots of homeless. I would walk so as not to have a bike that could be stolen or cause me to be distracted trying to lock it etc.
It's not unlike big cities everywhere, but when you are a distracted tourist, you can be a target. Don't hesitate to tell anyone who gets in your face to back off. 911 is the emergency number here.

Been feeling better. Thanks, Silkie. 🥰

Miss, that's awful! Glad you fared better.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 10/07/2023 17:22

Glad you're OK MissC - that was a scary amount of rain you got there. It's non-stop here. I am wondering if the whole summer will be wet...

MissConductUS · 10/07/2023 19:12

DD has finally made it home after taking her boyfriend home this morning. It was quite the adventure she had. I'm so glad to have her back here safe.
