Hope the exam went well lemons fingers crossed it didn’t throw you as much as it felt at the time.

Manically busy day running around after DC yesterday; dance lessons, PTA event, birthday party, dance exam and swim meet. It was exhausting in the heat. Had a day at home today with 2DC spending the majority of the day in the paddling pool. Feel like I’ve almost reset the house which also gives me a clearer head.

MissConductUS · 11/06/2023 22:31

Lemons, what farm did you go off to today? I had to google invigilator. We call them proctors here.

Helena, I'm a bit exhausted just reading about your day. It was pretty quiet here. My church has combined the 8:30 and 10:00 services for the summer, so it was packed this morning. I am usually five minutes late for church, so parking was a challenge.

Some of the Canadian wildfire smoke was back today, but not as bad as last week. I did some cleaning and shopping, and the men are getting ready to grill dinner. We has some of those lovely strawberries with whipped cream last night after dinner. They were fabulous.

@DuckyShincracker

I have fond memories of being in a car with family members and seeing participants from the London to Brighton Run UK) coming back from the event.

Deathraystare · 12/06/2023 17:32

@MissConductUS

Swap you your Crane and turtles for some basic London pigeons?!

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/06/2023 19:19

Miss C is whipped cream like the cream you get from a can? Or is it like cream that’s been whipped?

Am tired after my exam and afternoon taking a class.

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/06/2023 19:23

Also miss C it was a farm with goats sheep chickens pigs and donkeys.

you can feed them and pet them.

MissConductUS · 12/06/2023 19:32

Deathray, I'll pass on the pigeons. They're called rats of the sky here because they carry so many diseases. We have loads in NYC.

Lemons, I always make fresh whipped cream using a glass bowl that's been in the freezer and a hand mixer. I add a bit of sugar and vanilla extract. We have a couple of similar farms near us that we used to take the kids to. One has alpacas, which I thought was a bit exotic.

Things are pretty quiet here, but tomorrow I'm in back-to-back meeting hell all day for some reason.

I'm with you on making whipped cream, Miss. It's great I can finally buy it lactose-free. 😛
lemons, it's 35% heavy cream.
Growing up I remember my dad would just pour some cream over sliced strawberries with a bit of sugar in summer. I think you have a similar tradition at Wimbledon?

I'm slowly getting used to the surprisingly spicy salsa I bought at Costco last week. It has meant eating a bowl of tortilla chips as an accompaniment, though. Daily. I do like to try my best. 🤷‍♀️😊
Yesterday I mixed in some chopped fresh pineapple. 😛

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/06/2023 20:32

Lemons, meant to ask about your exams. Are you upgrading or finishing something up? When will you get your results?

Silkierabbit · 12/06/2023 20:45

Just done a couple of hours gardening with DH, been quite warm here 28C and was about 25C when gardening so quite pleasant. Managed to fill the green bin, it was emptied today and will be done again in 2 weeks.

Also cahms home treatment team round to see DS. We told him and he kicked his bed, doesn't like people round (I am not keen either) but the guy just stayed 5 minutes and he just hid a bit but remained calm whilst he introduced himself then he left and chatted with DH outside. DS calm since. He will come every Monday and try to build up. He's a lovely guy.

We have whipped cream as well, had it with meringues and raspberries yesterday , very nice.

Silkierabbit · 12/06/2023 20:47

Also been frantically phoning anyone and everyone to see if anyone can help re LA. Have tried solicitor but don't think they can help at this stage. But people are either we can do nothing LA decides by themselves or with us so we might just get moment if LA will budge.

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/06/2023 21:10

Aww Silkie I wish I had wise words re education. I am flabbergasted by it all to be honest. It’s been muggy here Silkie far too hot for gardening.

Havoc - I am taking it so that I could potentially apply for an on the job teacher training in 2024. I have a relevant university degree but in order to teach in the UK you must have a C or above in English Language test which you usually complete at age 16.

Ironically I have been told though I don’t actually need it as I have Welsh first language at C or above so don’t need my English.

Dreading sports day tomorrow in this heat. I have been assigned tricky child to stick to like glue look after.

bizzey · 12/06/2023 22:38

I had a very lazy pamper day yesterday!

I am a sucker for a "non bargain" bargain of buying or getting free sets of skin stuff when you x products.

Trouble is I forget to use them 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️..

So I sorted them out and tried loads for my prep for "mission skin beautiful" for grad day in July!!

I tried on a new perfume....
DS caught a whiff when we passed in the kitchen ...and said
..ohhh that's nice .....you know....when you die we will always remember you for your smell ..

!!!!!!🤔🤔😂😂😂😂

Now.... perfume is my "thing " .

According to the boys I used to have :
Church perfume
School perfume
Shopping perfume
Going out perfume....
(You get where I am coming from ...their words not mine !!)

So ...twill be no evocative memories of home baking, home cooking (though my slow cooker meals did smell nice !) basically any homemaking skills....

Just perfume that they will remember me by 😂!

bizzey · 12/06/2023 22:42

Had a disaster with the mascara I tried though...

It was waterproof...and I had no waterproof eye make up remover 😞😞!!.

I soaked my eyes in olive oil !!

That has gone in the bin now !

I should have realised when it claimed to be "beach wear mascara" !

bizzey · 12/06/2023 22:44

Lemons ..what board did you do in the exam .
Ds did his today .

Would love a more adult perspective on it 😂

bizzey · 12/06/2023 22:48

Just checked DS piece of paper ...his doesn't say a board ...
I thought English had different boards like maths 🤔?

bizzey · 12/06/2023 22:48

I have a feeling it was AQA ?

bizzey · 12/06/2023 23:38

I wonder if I drop big hints that ...CHLOE is a lovely name ....
That they will realise...that is my big hint my my birthday /Christmas present.
( Yeah ...I am a double one ...
Either /or...
Though they tend to go for joint birthday ! ..well they did last year x)

sproutsandparsnips · 13/06/2023 21:36

Bizzey I expect Lemons did WJEC.
DS has last GCSE on Friday. History of Health and Medicine.
I think you are doing an amazing job of advocating for DS Silkie. How unbelievably frustrating for you and him.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2023 22:23

Lemons, it must be something you really want to sit high a school exams again! Good for you!!! I hope it works out. I've been toying with finishing some uni courses and then applying for a masters program. I've quite regretted not continuing on. Cheering you on from Vancouver. 😀

Dull, but exciting; or not dull, but unexciting news: I was banned from posting today! I had posted some sincere advice on a very non-confrontational thread then someone quoted me and attacked me/mocked my advice. I replied quoting them, (I'll show you!), made a typo for an acronym I was trying to use 🤦‍♀️ (cuz I'd an idiot), then used the "T" word. Fatal mistake. 😵
Lesson learned. Unsure how the very vile and goady posts stay, though. 🤷‍♀️ (so unfair 😩)

Silkierabbit · 14/06/2023 00:53

Glad you are still here Havoc Some of MN is best avoided.

Well done to your DS Sprouts and thanks for your kind words. Busy again today trying to get decision reversed about education and on phone to lawyers, sendiass, LA, psychiatrist, cahms, keyworker for autism and National Autistic Society and Maudsley also involved and social care. Quite a few are just its nothing to do with us or useless but am getting a team on my side and nobody backing LA atm. Cahms are now backing me and Maudsley are too so are NAS and social care and psychiatrist. Others are just staying out of things. But there is almost zero time left and LA were holding out but when I said nobody agrees with you they finally started to back down. They just refuse to accept he had issues in education even though mental health have said all problems pre hospital due to education. Argh.

Went swimming today and jacuzzi and sauna. Did 88 lengths. It was strange today they had swapped female and male changing rooms as decorators in, I am still confused why that helps and it caused a lot of confusion with people walking into wrong changing rooms. One very large woman entered the mens normally the women's and declared she had seen things she hadn't seen in 15 years. 😂There were 2 walkers including the very large woman with a similar sized man in the swimming lane blocking half of it. Then a loved up young couple came in swimming lane and the girl clearly could not swim and looked close to drowning, thankfully they then shifted to jacuzzi. Another woman who just seems to spend 2 hours in the steam room, no idea how she manages that.

Well done Lemons on your exam and to your son Bizzey

bizzey · 14/06/2023 01:25

Silkierabbit you are amazing for what you are are trying to do for your DS .
Which is what he deserves.
I sometimes feel I should have fought harder for my DS ...

But hindsight is a wonderful thing as they say .

Too be fair ...2 GCSE ' s is the max he can do right now ....and no way would he have managed them 3 years ago !

(5 separate exam settings/papers )

Last one tomorrow!!

Hoping for 4's ..but if not he can re-take in November.

Ds2 made me smile tonight !

He has been given tickets to a festival this weekend.

He was supposed to have gone on his first one 2020 ...hummm it got cancelled!

So all the stuff is here bar the sleeping bag which is at the other DS flat for sleep overs.

Ordered him new sleeping bag ....and added in some insect repellent and bite cream ..

(I am an over thinker and planner and an annoying fusspot mum !)

He said wow ...thank you ....I was going to ask you to get me some of this !!

So maybe I am not such an annoying mum as I think 🤔🤔😂😂!

(Amazon account is on my phone...I order ...they pay me )

Silkierabbit · 14/06/2023 22:14

Thanks Bizzey Hope the last GCSE goes well. Its hard to know advocating. I'm glad for all the times I did it and achieved things but I really regret the amount of time spent doing it and not achieving anything and trusting that an EHCP would help. Sent a complaint in today as advised by NAS charity but never achieved anything with those in past. 2 more meetings tomorrow. If they cut the meetings to about a tenth of what exists so much more would be achieved.

DH went to the hospital DS was at before to pick up his things, a lot were missing but that's fine, we didn't take anything valuable there and were just planning on chucking a lot of it. I did say to them they could keep things for the other children like all the teddies and toys and hopefully that's what has happened.

We are going to get work done to house incase we need to sell and move for DS, best to do it anyway. Heard back from carpenter today they are coming tomorrow to discuss and also I have a female painting team coming later to discuss painting outside of house.

Watched Below Deck and Sarah Beeny cancer thing. Floof has been full on though I did manage to catch him very sleepy and say Floof I need a game now and he yawned and went to play yawning. 😂Seemed happy though. Time before when he was wide awake and I said Floof I need a game he was trilling so much.

MissConductUS · 14/06/2023 22:25

Well done with your ongoing struggles on behalf of your DS Silkie. My own battle with the SEN bureaucracy pales in comparison.

bizzey · 15/06/2023 16:46

Well I am being a bit of a fraud posting this....as it is quite exciting 😂.

Delved into the big narrow walk in gully area to get out bag for D's camping trip
....
And came across 2 bottles of wine that I did not know about 😂😂....

Party time 🥳🥳!
