How do I cook fishfingers?

DanFmDorking · 23/03/2023 19:47

Could you help me please? I have some Fish Fingers.
The instructions are:-
Pre heat Oven to 220C/Gas mark 7 – Place on a pre heated baking-tray in the centre of the oven for 14 minutes.
I don’t have an Oven.
How should I cook them using a 800w Microwave?
I’d be grateful for some advice - thanks.

@DanFmDorking thank you 😊 they look good

getafringenotbotox · 23/03/2023 21:28

I am hoping for more threads until you get your oven Grin

This has cheered everyone up.

Hot water then dry it off?

Interested in this thread?

They look like huge fishfingers (or is your plate really tiny?) Nice crispy coating, I thought they'd look soggy out of the microwave!. Your cuppa looks spot on, too!

Annoyingwurringnoise · 23/03/2023 21:29

cook them under the grill or in the frying pan. The microwave will just warm them up and they’ll be soggy and disgusting.

Hot water then dry it off?

That was an answer to how to heat a plate without an oven. Not how to cook a fishfinger- it would NOT taste good.

getafringenotbotox · 23/03/2023 21:30

Op I am ex army and I've seen it all. We used to boil eggs in the kettle.

I wasn't in charge of that so I don't know how many boils but it's doable Smile

I'm glad you explained that.

How did you warm the plate with no oven?

I'm assuming in the microwave.

CatchThatCat · 23/03/2023 21:38

OP I hope you have everything you need as you are managing well to cook with just a microwave and I found this hard on a holiday recently. I couldn’t work out whether I could still cook pasta for instance.

I now want to know what you are going to cook next !

clary · 23/03/2023 21:38

I love this thread @DanFmDorking please post again! Well done for taking everyone's advice in such good part 😁

DanFmDorking · 23/03/2023 21:39

@getafringenotbotox - Crispy? fake crisp? - I don't understand - just brown stuff on them.
Did they taste ok? - tasted fine.
@MillicentTrilbyHiggins - eh? what teens?
@getafringenotbotox - Is that all you had? - certainly not - I had a cup of tea and a plain Hobnob and I've just remembered I have a small pot of Ambrosia Custard in the cupboard
bellac11 - How did you warm the plate with no oven? - In the Microwave silly - water on t' plate - 30 seconds.
@getafringenotbotox - ... they look good - I smell sarcasm! (they were fine)
mrsm43s - Your cuppa looks spot on, too! - thanks, that was done in the Microwave too.

You can! I only had a microwave too for about a year or so and I'm addicted to pasta! Took about 13-15mins with lots of stirring every couple of mins.

getafringenotbotox · 23/03/2023 21:42

No sarcasm I promise they look better than the oven. Did they go crispy though like they do in the oven? Or maybe I overcook mine?

getafringenotbotox · 23/03/2023 21:43

That is not a substantial dinner you need sone peas. I'd of had processed peas with them. Which I always microwave.

I love this thread too it's so nice

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/03/2023 21:44

I would have put them in a sandwich.

Irridescantshimmmer · 23/03/2023 21:49

They'll be soft and mushy cooked in the microwave.

A George Foreman grill may be a better alternative, need to add some oil (not olive oil, they would taste putrid) or butter to the plates.

Then just guess at the times and temp.

WonderingWanda · 23/03/2023 21:56

I remember back in the 80's when microwaves were new fangled technology we cooked all sorts in them. I can remember my aunt making a full Spaghetti bolognaise and baking cakes in hers.

I have a great easy microwave recipe for you op. 4 crushed oreos and 1/4 cup of whole milk makes a great mug cake. Just finish with a dollop of ice cream.

DanFmDorking · 23/03/2023 22:03

England won - and I'm not hungry - Result!

@getafringenotbotox - Did they go crispy though like they do in the oven? - I don't know what these things do in an oven - to be fair I think they had a lot more of the brown stuff on them than the usual fishfingers I've seen - which meant they were quite crispy before I put them in the Microwave and they were still crispy when I took them, er, out - it was probably the brown stuff that was holding the things together.
@getafringenotbotox ... you need some peas - Nope, one thing at once for me.
@CaptainMyCaptain I would have put them in a sandwich. - That sounds like a good idea but I wasn't that hungry.
@Irridescantshimmmer They'll be soft and mushy ... - nope, they were fine

I'm well surprised!

They do look like very naice fish fingers. Is that microwave magic or were they artisan fish fingers?

DanFmDorking · 23/03/2023 22:20

@SinisterKnitter ... were they artisan fish fingers? - Nope, Cod Fish Fingers

They're definitely at least one step up from the frozen FFs I buy for my teens to snack on. They look good!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/03/2023 22:29

Fish fingers in one side of the toaster, potatoes waffle in the other. Standard quick dinner here. Wrap the fish fingers in foil if no toastabags..
