The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

Because showing it means they invite some uncomfortable comparisons to the UK government

Instead they report about laughing gas and homeless people

Yes indeed.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2023 12:08

BBC is now live reporting it on their website.

As well as the SNP leadership vote.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2023 12:17

An old sketch from Matt Green but still relevant!

Another squirrel, this 'scrouge on society'

Shaun Ley - What link is there between using nitrous oxide & anti-social behaviour?

Prof David Nutt - None... next question please.... unlike alcohol where there's around 3000 events a week because of drunkenness.

The littering from the canisters is a pita but it’s no more a ‘scourge’ than anything else bored youths get up to of an evening.
Actually, littering is a scourge. Maybe they could something about that.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2023 13:02

LIttering and intimidating people in parks are both already illegal

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:06

Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.

MPs FOR HIRE - Part Three: See how ex-minister Stephen Hammond did in his job interview

Humza Yousaf is the new SNP leader

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:17

Humza for 1st minister of Scotland.
The only consolation for Scottish people like me who live in Scotland and don't want to be taken out of UK is that Humza is less popular with the Scottish electorate than the other candidates and is therefore hopefully a help to the other parties when the UK election comes round.

I do not rate Humza at all. He seems an unprincipled, incompetent populist . So,at least he has plenty in common withthe Westminster crew.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:23

I've just turned off the radio. I don't want to hear anything more about how much he loves his wife.

He's also done the "the people of Scotland have shown their trust" line. Eh? His popularity ratings are negative.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2023 14:28

Who was your choice mibbe?

I think this one is the best one yet. Hammond's eyes nearly popped out his head at the possible fees he could get his greasy paws on. Trying to pretend it was all quite normal but wanting to say "YES YES YES gimme the money"

He's toast at the next GE anyway, tiny wee majority.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:33

Pffftt. Weep. @DuncinToffee

I didn't rate any of them. For a start, anyone who works to break up the UK has questionable judgment. (And quite possibly 'ishoos') . I mean, of all the things someone could work for, to choose to break up a country ....

Given that it was predicted that HY and KF were neck and neck I'd rather have had KF.

Roussette · 27/03/2023 14:33

And an outright lie that he has a big korean community in his constituency. He does NOT. That is the adjoining borough, Kingston/Surbiton which is Ed Davey LD.

(Family live there so I know)

The final vote ratio was 52 - 48

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2023 14:46

Oh the irony, the Daily Mail invokes the Human Rights Act to stop naming journalists in the libel case.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:51

52-48 indeed. And complaints about the election process. I've never heard the like.
Oh wait.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/03/2023 14:52

I'm off to work now, so I can't derail the thread anymore.

There's very little about the leadership result on Scotsnet!

Feel free to derail. I don't know a lot about Scottish politics but I am interested in the views of Scottish posters. The same applies to Wales and N. Ireland Smile

Agree.

Piggywaspushed · 27/03/2023 15:17

I need to ask my SNP member parents what they think. I know they feel they had a Hobson's choice. Both big fans of NS.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2023 15:35

NEW: Key final scrutiny stages of the Illegal Immigration Bill - report stage and third reading - will be done in just one day tomorrow, the government has decided

Thus freeing them from raising significant concerns that require more careful consideration and allowing them to crack on with their second/third/fourth jobs. Win - win.

https://twitter.com/AdamBienkov/status/1640303973826547713?s=20

The Council of Europe's Human Rights Commissioner says the UK's asylum ban is "incompatible with the United Kingdom’s international obligations" and says it is "essential" that MPs now vote it down.

^"we are especially concerned about the Bill's impact on the detention of children"

"we are especially concerned about the Bill's impact on the detention of children"

That's a grim sentence to read.
