The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

Yes that is the most worrying, he knew nothing about the company, and was prepared to quote a price for services without any information regarding expectations.

Many posts on twitter also pointed out the glasses and bottles of booze on the shelves

I was just going to say did anyone clock the booze on the shelf? Another one I’ll be delighted to see lose their seat.

Yes. Honestly, it ddoes make me wonder. Wouldn't you.... if you were supposedly being 'interviewed' for an executive role, remove a 2 litre bottle of wine off the shelf.

Are they so up their own arses and complacent, they just don't care?

I've answered my own question actually. Yes.

Notonthestairs · 26/03/2023 17:56

He was filmed in his secretary's office. That said I'd imagine the booze is intended for visiting MPs rather than for her to have a tipple. Yes he might have thought of removing it.

It is interesting how he felt he could clear diary space for 6 board meetings in a year (1 in Korea the rest in Europe) and go on to a Zoom call at a moment's notice.

No mention of his constituency obligations - aren't they supposed to meet constituents every Friday?

DuncinToffee · 26/03/2023 14:45

What a fucking tosser. He really couldn't give a shit about his constituents or the people of this country. How fucking dare he. All about the money, I'm so fucking angry.

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/03/2023 18:10

I think there's so much booze floating around, they just don't notice it anymore.

NHS England report - The NHS operating with 154000 vacant posts - without action this will rise to 571,000 by 2036.

The 107-page blueprint, which is being examined by ministers, sets out detailed proposals to end the understaffing that has plagued the health service for years. It says that without radical action, the NHS in England will have 28,000 fewer GPs, 44,000 fewer community nurses and an even greater lack of paramedics within 15 years.

A senior NHS leader said: “Jeremy Hunt has been very resistant to the numbers in the workforce plan. The Treasury and Hunt don’t want numbers in it. They want it to be not very precise. They want the numbers to be projected in a different way that would be less expensive and to not commit to training specific numbers of doctors, nurses and others.
“While intellectually Hunt gets it, and emotionally he gets the patient safety argument, it seems that his priority, if the government has any financial headroom, is to use that for tax cuts or giving the army more money rather than training more doctors, nurses and speech and language therapists.

Don't worry Boris has had 40 new hospitals built so the NHS is fine.

DuncinToffee · 26/03/2023 20:53

And don't forget all those senior doctors coming out of retirement.

Seriously though, that article is a scary read.

Notonthestairs · 26/03/2023 20:58

It really does spell out that the Conservatives prioritise hanging on to power (tax cuts) over the nations health and therefore its long term future.

And if you live rurally services will get far worse.

Notonthestairs · 26/03/2023 20:59

"And don't forget all those senior doctors coming out of retirement."

All 800 of them 🎉

pointythings · 26/03/2023 22:14

Are we surprised at the Tories' reluctance to accept the issues with NHS staffing? They never wanted the NHS in the first place and they have not changed their spots (or shorts, depending on your point of view).

Yet according to that intellectual titan and stickler for the truth, James Cleverley, the NHS was the Tories’ idea.

Brady has four part time jobs and is an MP and chair of 1922 - still has time to fit in another job. Amazing really.
Again no mention of his duties to his constituents.

And they reckon men can’t multitask. He’s a modern miracle.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2023 08:59

Tell us something we didn't know...

Suella Braverman is accused of secretly backing a backbench rebellion against her own Illegal Migration Bill to push Downing Street into toughening up measures to tackle the small boats crisis.
Senior government sources said the home secretary was a “sock puppet” under the influence of Tory hardliners who believe that Rishi Sunak has not gone far enough to clamp down on Channel crossings.

No wonder Truss wants to handout honours to the head of the IEA.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/03/2023 09:13

Brady didn't seem as bad as Kwartang. At least he thought about the rules, even it was so he could skirt around them.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2023 09:14

Wow at the massive protests in Israel against attempts to transfer power from the judiciary to the government 👏

I know and barely mentioned on the BBC. Just a 10 second clip showing a protestor throwing something. Nothing to show the scale of it.

Because showing it means they invite some uncomfortable comparisons to the UK government

Instead they report about laughing gas and homeless people
