The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

If they tracked it back, they'd likely find it in their own pockets, via the mates they gave the dodgy contracts to.

Yeah pretty much what the first comment says

Some news I've not seen on MSM, not good for our energy outlook

No10 court battle to keep secret how much booze was used at functions during Covid
Government officials have so far remained mute on the government's wine cellar and refused to divulge how many bottles were brought out for the rule-breaking Covid parties - but efforts to get the information released have now see it escalated to court

Solidarity with the junior doctors

L1ttledrummergirl · 11/04/2023 10:15

Absolutely (even if my family members appointment has been postponed again). Fucking government need to get their fingers out and pay them properly.

We know there is a magic money tree, it got Truss out of the shit. Stop lying and start valuing the people in the NHS.

DuncinToffee · 11/04/2023 10:24

I wish they didn't have to strike, but the government hasn't given them a choice. Any sign of Barclay?

itsgettingweird · 11/04/2023 10:31

I wish things like, health, education and social care were ringfenced.

That they weren't allowed to be used as pawns in a political ideological game.

If we want free access to education and health care then that needs to be something that's funded properly regardless of who governs.

Blossomtoes · 11/04/2023 11:31

Couldn’t agree more @itsgettingweird.

Notonthestairs · 11/04/2023 11:47

No sign of Barclay.
Dark thoughts but I suspect he's hoping that somebody suffers terrible consequences from the strike so he can leverage it.
It never should have come to this. I am quite upset about it as I feel it's indicative of a Government all but encouraging medics to leave, particularly young medics who are essentially the future of the medical workforce.

Agree and would add dentists and court services.

NEW: Rishi Sunak's spokesman says govt "ready and willing" to meet with junior doctors but only if they call off strikes and drop their demand for 35% pay rise.

it doesn't quite work like that

itsgettingweird · 11/04/2023 13:53

And all emergency services too really - so police and fire service

Totally utterly agree.
also water/utilities/transport should be in public hands & if I ruled the world childcare/social care should not be for profit.

Our numbers three times bigger than Germany and bigger numbers are better right?

Also what about Russia, what is its growth forecast huh!

Jason118 · 11/04/2023 16:12

I wish things like, health, education and social care were ringfenced.

They used to be ringfenced by public opinion, and I hope at the next election they still are. If not, then there's no hope for Great Britain.

You can tell they’re all too young to know anything about strikes, can’t you? Bloody fuckwits.

NEW: Boris Johnson may SWAP his dipped majority in Uxbridge and South Ruislip with the safer seat of Henley so he doesn't lose at the next GE

he could attempt to switch to the safer seat after his majority in Uxbridge and South Ruislip dipped from 10,695 in 2015 to just 7,210 at the 2019 election

Well wouldn't it be embarrassing if he did that and it wasn't the safe seat he imagines and he lost anyway?

This. It's like they just don't understand the basic principles of labour (small l not capital) and striking. Mind you, it feels like they don't understand much of anything to do with ordinary people.

Notonthestairs · 12/04/2023 08:17

I see Liz Truss is off to give a speech on woke values increasing taxes to the right wing Koch funded anti abortion Heritage Foundation. Lovely people I'm sure.

Doesn't BJ have a bit of a history with the Henley constituency - swanning off to be Mayor of London when he was last MP there [realise that's a bit of a while ago now]

Majority of 32,000 - surely he can reduce that

IClaudine · 12/04/2023 14:10

This is perhaps off topic, but I read this just now about the landlady of the "golly pub". Seriously?

Ryley denied that she or her husband were racist. “I’m not a racist in any form.” She confirmed that her husband had been photographed in a T-shirt from the far-right group Britain First. She said: “I don’t think Chris is a supporter of Britain First, he was just wearing that shirt because it was convenient at the time
