39yo, 5ft 4, 144lbs. Walk about 11,000 steps a day (4 miles).

An example of a usual day:

Breakfast: porridge measured out - 280cals

Snack: 2 ryvita with Philadelphia light. Approx 100 cal.

Lunch: Baxter's chicken broth 164cal. 1 slice of rye 120cal

Dinner: grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red cabbage, red onion, half a pitta bread. Approx 430cal.

Approx 1000 calories.

Would you lose or gain?

Lose fast

Timmy2023 · 21/03/2023 18:18

Oh, and drinks wise, 1 coffee with milk first thing, and about 2l of water for the rest of the day.

1 bottle of red wine on a Sunday.

Lose, and I'm 5'2 and 8 stone 2.
I eat a lot more than that and would be hungry on that diet. Doesn't seem sustainable.

Lose

Pass out

Its like a liver reduction diet for people going in for surgery

KohlaParasaurus · 21/03/2023 18:19

I would be extremely cold and hungry and the ketones on my breath would kill at 100 paces.

missfliss · 21/03/2023 18:20

I have no doubt that I would lose weight initially.
I'd also feel incredibly tired and worn out and unwell - and my leptin / grehlin / insulin / cortisol would go very out of whack and compel me to eat a lot more and I'd eventually overeat to compensate

Kay286 · 21/03/2023 18:20

Lose definitely ! I’m 125lb and 5ft 3 I was heavier and lost weight years ago and kept
it off . I did similar calorie wise (it was hard) I found my body almost held onto the weight as calories so low then every few weeks a good amount would drop off. I did however allow myself more on weekends as I would have gone mad !

MrNook · 21/03/2023 18:20

Lose weight and be really miserable!

ValBiro · 21/03/2023 18:20

Lose... I was the same weight as you a year ago and ate something like that many calories a day (albeit mainly veg and protein) for a few months to lose 2 stone. I also massively increased my physical activity though. Similar age and height.

fufulina · 21/03/2023 18:21

I’d be ravenous and I wouldn’t lose. Too high carb.

tootrueblue · 21/03/2023 18:21

Lose but I'd be starving and it wouldn't be sustainable. 1000 is not sufficient, especially with the energy levels you're expending

theswoot · 21/03/2023 18:21

I would lose both weight and the will to live. It is a very restricted diet, has this been recommended or advised by a doctor?

MuddyFeet01 · 21/03/2023 18:21

Lose plus starving hungry

Schmutter · 21/03/2023 18:22

But carby for my particular metabolism and the way weight loss works for me.

Schmutter · 21/03/2023 18:22

*bit not but

hamstersarse · 21/03/2023 18:22

I wouldn’t care because I’d feel like shit

TeaAndToastx2 · 21/03/2023 18:23

Lose. In fact maybe I should follow this list for a week!

smashin · 21/03/2023 18:23

I’d possibly gain, but I’m short and slim and weigh close to 50kg so that’s around my BMR. I’d personally drop some of the carbs and add more fresh fruit/veg as I definitely wouldn’t gain but would still feel full.

Fuck, what I doing wrong calorie wise then to not be losing at all? I really carefully measure.

It's not the same every day and I do get protein.

Another day might be:

2 boiled eggs 1 rye bread - 320cal

Salad with all veg, new potato and ham - 400 cal

Aubergine and cauliflower curry with 60g basmati - approx 480cal.

I'm literally staying at 10st.

Some weekends we do a 12 mile hike. I probably have a take away once a month.

Aaaarrrrggghhhhh

lljkk · 21/03/2023 18:24

That's ~1100 kcal total, right? Is 11k steps really 4 miles?

I'm not any of 39yo / 5ft 4 / 144lbs : I'm much older, taller, & a little lighter.

I maintain on about 2200 kcal/day.

whatyoulookingfor · 21/03/2023 18:24

I weigh about the same as you and I eat less, but I cannot seem to lose weight, in fact I've been putting it on slowly. I don't do the steps though, I haven't been able to exercise recently though

lljkk · 21/03/2023 18:25

I like your food choices, OP.
