Help me spend £70 on teacher’s Easter present

Class Rep here. One of my jobs is to buy the teacher a present from the class kitty on behalf of the parents at the end of each term. I would like to choose something Springlike but I’m cr*p at choosing presents, so would welcome suggestions from Mumsnetters. The budget is £70. It doesn’t have to be just one item, but a maximum of three. Thanks so much ☺️

I would make it £50 in vouchers plus a posh Easter egg and maybe some potted spring flowers.

Agree with @Rainbowshit

Good idea.

£70 per term???

What happened to a £2 box of chocolate biscuits at the end of the year?

When did Easter gifts for teachers become a thing?

Tallulasdancingshoes · 09/03/2023 20:45

Yep, vouchers, Easter egg and flowers/plant sounds lovely.

DappledThings · 09/03/2023 20:47

Not here yet I'm relieved to say. I'm class rep too. Christmas and end of the year for gifts. No faffing about at Easter too.

TokyoSushi · 09/03/2023 20:49

Yes exactly that, £50 voucher, nice Easter egg & flowers, lucky teacher!

We haven’t even got class reps near us. We’re just grateful when children can turn up clean and fed. Ohhh how the other half live!

ChangedForEmbarrassingQuestions · 09/03/2023 20:50

Isn’t the class kitty for trips or felt tips?

Is it a private school?

BCBird · 09/03/2023 20:51

I'm teaching.in the wrong school🤣

LimeCheesecake · 09/03/2023 20:52

Posh Easter egg, £50 John Lewis voucher (everyone can find something they want in JL)

ibuymeownflowers · 09/03/2023 20:52

At the end of each term? Don't be so ridiculous.

Buy a £3 egg and donate the rest to a foodbank you've all got money to burn!!

ibuymeownflowers · 09/03/2023 20:54

How much is in this kitty?

DutchCowgirl · 09/03/2023 20:59

A mug/thermoflask with a photo of the kids or a nice personal message. I’d like it if one of the items was a bit personal and crafty.
Then spend the rest on vouchers

GreatContinental · 09/03/2023 20:59

Not flowers
As a teacher I always went away as soon as school ended and had to give my flowers to other people

Not a photo of the kids! They are not their granny.
The mugs etc with pictures of the children on that were given as gifts never made it home.

No one wants a photo of the kids

ibuymeownflowers · 09/03/2023 21:02

You're overthinking it. If you really must spend such a ridiculous amount on an Easter present then just get a nice chocolate Easter thing. Fortnum and Mason do some nice ones

MelchiorsMistress · 09/03/2023 21:03

I was going to say exactly what the first poster said.

She can use it at work, no need to take it at home. Were you think all the chocolate will end?

Presumably the teacher has a mug.

And who says they are a she?

Totally agree. OP don’t spend all £70 on stuff you have no idea if they’ll want.

John Lewis vouchers would be good imo.

foodtoorder · 09/03/2023 21:08

This is crazy! A class kitty? Easter presents?
If there's money floating around give it to the teacher to spend on resources?
