How cold is your house?

I've just come in no central heating on at the moment and looked at the thermostat and cannot believe it's only 10.7 degrees in my house it's bloody freezing. cannot afford to put the heating on during the day so I tend to wait until the evening when the dc are home to switch it on for a few hours so I'm sat here in my coat and hat! we've not even got the snow here where I am must be cold in the snowy areas. So just out of interest how cold is your house?

8 degrees at the moment. DH and I are well working well wrapped up and comfortable, and we'll light the fire an hour before the kids get home.

theblackradiator · 09/03/2023 12:39

It isn't cold at all. It is 19 degrees as I have the heating on. I don't normally put it on during the day but it was just too cold today and my arthritic joints were very sore. I know i am very lucky because we can afford to have the house warm if we need to.

Marchforward · 09/03/2023 12:51

Are you working from? Can you go out to a warm space? You could become ill sitting in that temperature.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 09/03/2023 12:51

17° but I’m just in and have put the heating on so will warm up a bit more soon.

QuintanaRoo · 09/03/2023 12:51

Currently 16 with no heating on.

LemonDrizzles · 09/03/2023 12:52

Yesterday, thermal, dress, poncho, scarf. Intermittent heated blanket on lap. No idea of temp.

coronafiona · 09/03/2023 12:52

13'. Have just put heating on as schools closing

Polal · 09/03/2023 12:53

19c, i try to avoid putting the heating on where possible because of costs, but it's so cold, snowy and freezing temperatures today, so cranked to 19 it is!

WaitingForSunnyDays · 09/03/2023 12:54

14.8C. I've just turned the heating on!

Prinnny · 09/03/2023 12:54

22 degrees! Had the heating on all morning and still snuggling the dog under a blanket it’s bloody freezing today.

Ciri · 09/03/2023 12:55

Its warm since we've had the heating on and DS1 has just been out to get logs and started a fire. We're well on the way to being snowed in if it carries on like this (live on a steep hill). I'm just deciding whether to tell DS2 to come home from school early.

FrostyFifi · 09/03/2023 12:55

It's set at 18.5 as it usually is now. I used to have it at 21/22 until the prices went up.

Decafflatteplease · 09/03/2023 12:56

14 degrees at my desk and I'm cold! Back of my neck is sore from tension with the cold.

On lunch now under heated blanket, want to stay here tbh!

FourTeaFallOut · 09/03/2023 12:57

21c

NewBootsAndRanty · 09/03/2023 12:58

21°.

Pixiedust1234 · 09/03/2023 12:58

No idea of temp but it feels a bit nippy today. Normally I don't have any heating on until it "drops" around 4pm ish but I'm very very tempted to put it on for an hour right now

bigbluebus · 09/03/2023 12:59

No idea but I'm wearing a vest t-shirt, a Jersey blouse and a fleece and I'm not cold even when sitting. The heating was on for 2 hours this morning (until 8.30) and it's still snowing outside.

Jux · 09/03/2023 13:01

Noidea of actual temp, but it's too cold for me, so I spend much time in bed! Lucky I can, I know. Sorry the rest of you can't 🌻 for you all in hope the actual sun comes along v soon.

I wonder what temperature Rishi Sunak's house is? Or Keir Starmer's? When someone's at home, that is of course.

Turquoisa80 · 09/03/2023 13:02

It's 16.6 which feels okay at the moment..I had the heating on for 3hours this morning after waking@6 and finding the temperature to be 14.8

Frosty1000 · 09/03/2023 13:02

A tropical 14.8. counting down the hours until heating goes on for the end of the school day.

EveryLittleWish · 09/03/2023 13:03

Our kitchen/living area ( extension) is heated to 20 degrees . I can control it from the rest of the house . It’s where we mostly are if we are home and it’s always warm .The rest of the house is currently 10 degrees . We turn on the heating for an hour or so in the evenings to make bedtime a bit easier ha ! Once I’m in bed and sleeping I don’t mind how cold it gets and neither do the kids. By end of the month the weather will start to warm up hopefully 🤞

TeenDivided · 09/03/2023 13:03

Very. The boiler seems to be bust.

(Except the living room where I have put an electric fire).

DeathMetalMum · 09/03/2023 13:03

13° currently. I've just got in from the supermarket, I'm not taking my coat off yet. We did have heating on for around an hour this morning but the house isn't great at holding heat. Will turn the heating on around 2/2.30, once dp is home from work but only to 15 to warm through - normally it would be when we get back from school but it's too cold to wait.

Bekindbekind · 09/03/2023 13:04

I’m in bed sick so the heating is turned down to 16.5 (DS is home sick too but doesn’t feel the cold!). The thermometer thingy next to me says it’s 16.1 here in the bedroom. I have a cat on my lap and am a bit warm actually. Probably feverish 😬

We live in an apartment and it really retains the heat, so we’re very lucky.
