Hi,

As the title says.. Blush
I woke up this morning with a horrible pain down below. Went to the bathroom and I've noticed a large cyst (??) down below. I'm so sorry it's cringey and probably quite graphic to explain..

It's on my inner labia, and is probably the size of a 50p coin. I don't know what to do! It hurts to touch and when I go to the toilet and knock it whilst wiping its like a searing pain. I want to pop it as it feels solid / 'full' but I don't know how, or if it's safe..

Has anybody experienced this before?! Blush

Could be a Bartholin’s cyst?
You could hot cloth it which may help to bring it to a head?

8MinutesToSunrise · 07/03/2023 21:10

Don't pop it. Very hot flannels and magnesium sulphate paste will help it drain

It sounds like a bartholins cyst - I had one and it was horrible .. it sounds like it’s become infected so you need some antibiotics and your go will refer you for removal . I had a small op to remove mine last September

Spanielsarepainless · 07/03/2023 21:10

Had something similar last year. GO took one look and gave me antibiotics. Bloody thing burst on the way home!

diamondsandpearl · 07/03/2023 21:10

I've just googled it and it does seem it could be a batholin's cyst. Never had anything like it before, it is SO painful! 🥺
I will give a hot compress a try!!

Is it yellow? Don't burst it. Magnesium sulfate is your friend

IwasToldThereWouldBeCake · 07/03/2023 21:12

Hot bath, will bring it to a head.

userxx · 07/03/2023 21:12

Hot flannel and a cold one between your teeth.

Hohofortherobbers · 07/03/2023 21:13

You poor woman! How about a hot bath tonight, paracetamol and see GP urgently tomorrow.

gerispringer · 07/03/2023 21:14

I had this, had it drained in hospital. Call your GP. You will need it drained and antibiotics.

diamondsandpearl · 07/03/2023 21:15

My goodness the thought of having it drained when I can barely brush past it is just terrifying 😩😂
I'm going to try a hot compress just now, and see what happens.

I've had a fair few of them and have never had them drained or antibiotic's, I dealt with them myself. My pain threshold is stupidly high.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 07/03/2023 21:16

A hot bath will also help as well

Mykittensmittens · 07/03/2023 21:16

Hot bath with Epsom salts will really help - you can get on Amazon or Tesco etc.

plus all the above advice, and get on the ‘sporners corner’ board on here! You’ll find others who have had similar!

FourBoysAndAFeline · 07/03/2023 21:18

The bollockle, painfully grim.

Rubyupbeat · 07/03/2023 21:21

I've had a good few of these, I never seemed help, madly, nor did they ever burst, they go down on their own. Yes, they are extremely painful.
But its possible it could be something completely different, so I would see a nurse or gp.

Kittlbua · 07/03/2023 21:34

Bartholin's cyst. I've had them twice and both times treated them with a hot compress. Usually bursts them in a couple of days. Awful things!

Rae87 · 07/03/2023 21:44

I had this a few months ago. Noticed it when it was pea sized, had a smear booked the next day so asked the nurse when I was there, it was a bit bigger by then. Was given antibiotics and 24 hours later was back to the gp as it was the size of an egg and extremely painful. Saw a different nurse and when I explained my issue she said she was confident she could pop it, that was until she saw it. She called the doctor in who referred me straight to the hospital. The walk to the hospital ward was so painful and by the time I got there it burst itself. I'm guessing from all the friction. Don't risk it, please get it seen. You may need antibiotics. When they looked at it in the hospital they said looking at the size if it hadn't burst itself they would have been looking to take me to theatre. They did mention in the hospital that it was important to keep it clean and as dry as possible. I can't remember if that was just because it had burst though, the advice may be different if it hasn't. I hope it's better soon for you, the pain really is excruciating x

diamondsandpearl · 07/03/2023 21:45

Pretty sure it's growing by the minute! ConfusedSad

Oh, and if you do go anywhere, take a change of underwear/trousers. I didn't even think to and the mess it caused when it bust was disgusting and smelly. The car ride home in soiled clothes was not pleasant! 🤢

Dragonsandcats · 07/03/2023 21:51

I had one removed by GA

HealthConcerns · 07/03/2023 21:51

Yes. I had one around 2 years ago although mine was outer labia but on the inside edge if that makes sense.

I went to the GP and was referred under the 2 week wait as any lump in that area is treated as suspicious. Saw the gynae team within 10 days and another 10 days later I was on the operating table. They didn't even biopsy, went straight for surgery. They took a bit of extra all around the edges too so am a bit uneven there now, not that it matters.

The 2 weeks wait for results was awful but luckily it was benign.

lipstickwoman · 07/03/2023 21:54

You need to see GP for proper treatment if it's any more than a 'spot'.

Theunamedcat · 07/03/2023 21:57

Go sit in a hot bath for some relief

You have painkillers I hope?
