Just being nosy, really!

How long is the shortest marriage you’ve seen and why did it end so quickly?

One day. The had a massive row at the wedding reception and slept separately that night. Split up there and then and we're divorced soon after. The had been together for about 10 years before that and had children too.

Just less than a month,
They were both cheating on each other- but were both very angry when they found out what the other was up too.

XenoBitch · 07/03/2023 21:09

Groom found out the bride was cheating a few days before the wedding. They went ahead anyway as they saw it as more hassle and cost to cancel everything.
They got their marriage annulled.

HeyMicky · 07/03/2023 21:10

Ex boyfriend drunkenly married some chick in vegas. Realised the next day she'd have claim to his whole business. Had it annulled the same day 🙄

pizzaHeart · 07/03/2023 21:11

nearly 5 months - distant cousin.
they didn’t know each other for long and jumped in too quick from the previous relationships .

Kissedbyfire1 · 07/03/2023 21:12

One week, another one a few months. The one week chap realised immediately it was a mistake and bailed. The other the bride cheated after a few months and left for the OM.

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 07/03/2023 21:12

Just under a fortnight, the bride saw texts on the grooms phone when they were on honeymoon- to his girlfriend and his boyfriend! The girl was a family friend and at their wedding. The guy was someone he met online.

Happy to say both have moved on and twenty years later they are both happy.

A woman I worked with seemed to ‘fall in love’ every weekend! Anyway she married a guy after knowing him for 6 weeks. A week after the wedding he was arrested and thrown in prison for fraud, sexual assault and bigamy! They were divorced as soon as it could be arranged!

6 weeks. The bride started seeing someone else before the wedding but was scared to cancel because her parents had spent an absolute fortune.

Fantina · 07/03/2023 21:21

Six months, it was a truly beautiful day and I didn’t have any inkling there was anything wrong. Bride left six months later and OM appeared after a few weeks.

Beignet · 07/03/2023 21:23

Not someone I knew but on our honeymoon - as we arrived a couple were getting married at our hotel. In the evening the couple were arguing outside our hotel door and we found out their were staying in the room next door.

The arguing escalated into full on screaming/crying/smashing sounds that lasted for ages.

The rest of the holiday they stayed completely apart until the flight home where they occupied different parts of the plane.

I'm sure they still aren't together.

Fantina · 07/03/2023 21:23

Oh and the bride was very high maintenance in the lead up to the wedding, she had three hen dos for example and it still rankles that we all paid out so much and she now admits to all having misgivings for months before. A lesson to us all to only spend what we are comfortable with.

Ihatethenewlook · 07/03/2023 21:24

About 6 months. They’d been together for over a decade. The groom had been married before, and never wanted to again after being stung by his ex who took him to the cleaners. It took ten years for the bride to convince him to marry her as she ‘wanted the security’. She left him for another man within a few months, also left with half of his assets (she didn’t have any).

Pseudonamed · 07/03/2023 21:26

5 months. My own. I found out exactly 5 months to the date of our wedding he had shagged another woman the night of his stag. She had been a friend of mine and left my hen to seek out my now exes stag party and slept with him. Two weeks later the bitch turned up at the wedding. 5 months later I got a call from her to say the father of her unborn child was my husband. He left there and then. I found out a year later he fathered another child with someone else in our short marriage too. Scumbag.

Bjarnum · 07/03/2023 21:27

My son's friend's wife left him straight after the ceremony. She'd changed her mind but felt bad about all the guests!

IncessantNameChanger · 07/03/2023 21:31

A few weeks. Known MH problems beforehand and seemed to be just to get hands on money / house. Sent someone round to beat them up. Very sad really. They had a PD but also seemed like a really very nasty spiteful person.

ladygindiva · 07/03/2023 21:32

About 3 months. They married in August it was all over by November.

ZeldaB · 07/03/2023 21:34

1 week.

They only knew each other a few months, married on impulse (aka he was powerful, had money and wanted kids, she was much younger, in a junior role, and wanted kids and financial support). There were ok for a week then the first time they had a row he stormed out and that was that. 🤷‍♀️

All very odd.

hoophoophooray · 07/03/2023 21:34

My aunt. Didn't last the length of the honeymoon

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 07/03/2023 21:34

Three weeks. Groom wanted to call off the wedding but bride didn't want to be humiliated so they went ahead with it. He showed up at the church painfully, obviously hung over. They weren't speaking when they left for their Caribbean honeymoon, returned and separated immediately.

I don't know how long it took for the actual annulment to go thru, but they never actually lived together.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 07/03/2023 21:35

I went to the wedding of a couple who split up on their honeymoon.

Honeyroar · 07/03/2023 21:36

My (very brief) ex’s marriage lasted a couple of weeks. He’d been having an affair (the woman he was sleeping with even went to the wedding with her boyfriend!).

were there any inklings prior to this huge betrayal being uncovered that he was a cheating scumbag? or did you genuinely think he was a great guy.
