2012 and Greenland!

80sMum · 06/03/2023 01:06

Deep Impact
Armagedon

And I thoroughly recommend Don't Look Up, although it's a comedy so very different from the others.

Locsup183 · 06/03/2023 01:07

Ooh if you have Amazon Prime they have so many disaster movies! Loads of them are pretty low budget but still v entertaining! Literally just type in flood, earthquake, storm etc and take your pick!

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:17

@Littleroundsponge sure I've seen 2012 and liked it. Will add Greenland to my watch list. Thank you.

@80sMum I've seen don't look up and really liked it. Not seen deep impact and armagedon. Thank you will put those on my list.

Thanks so much @Locsup183 we do have prime and just watched Artic Blast wich was a mix of home and away and the day after tomorrow. I enjoyed it.

Contagion
Perfect storm
Twister
Dates peak

Pubesofsoberness · 06/03/2023 01:33

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:34

@Pubesofsoberness thank you for that list.

I had a bit of a binge during the last lockdown!

Pubesofsoberness · 06/03/2023 01:39

Ive heard San Andreas is good too but haven't watched it

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:40

I can totally understand @Pubesofsoberness the last lockdown we went old school with Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock. If only they made them like that now.

Actually I would welcome all old school films as well. I absolutely love Mrs Miniver, the camomile lawn etc.

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:42

Pubesofsoberness · 06/03/2023 01:47

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:51

@Pubesofsoberness thank you.

@cassiatwenty love the edge of the seat disaster movies.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 06/03/2023 02:21

You have problems.

It was a rubbish film. And I'm not talking the quality of the filming but the made up environmental Impacts.

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 02:37

@VeniVidiWeeWee interesting. What made up environmental impacts were in the film?

OP posts:
Singleandproud · 06/03/2023 03:02

Volcano - I love it but the special fx are so dated now.
Twister
San Andreas
2012
Contagion
Outbreak
There's a couple od disaster movies on trains but can't remember their name, about avoiding a terrorist attack and collision.

I work in incident response (to flooding) and entirely put that down to my love of disaster movies.

Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 13:16

@Singleandproud great list, thank you.

Yes. Working in your field you need to be prepared 😉

War of the worlds. The one with Tom Cruise, not the original.

pheonixrebirth · 06/03/2023 14:17

Volcano with Tommy Lee jones and Anne Heche.

Shunkleisshiny · 06/03/2023 14:22

The Wave on Prime, it's subtitled (Norwegian) but such a good disaster movie.

SnipSnapMe · 06/03/2023 14:28

80sMum · 06/03/2023 01:06

Deep Impact
Armagedon

Don't Look Up - brilliant. Well worth a watch. Demonstrates the power of the media. Shows how people will ignore science and the flipping obvious - if a television presenter tells them otherwise or they read some clickbait article on social media.
