Volcano - I love it but the special fx are so dated now.
Twister
San Andreas
2012
Contagion
Outbreak
There's a couple od disaster movies on trains but can't remember their name, about avoiding a terrorist attack and collision.

I work in incident response (to flooding) and entirely put that down to my love of disaster movies.

My hatred of disaster movies comes from studying disaster response 😂

I can’t watch them without saying “well that wouldn’t happen!”

Second this, it's amazing.

Oh yes, The Wave was great.

Also, The Quake.

Norwegians seem really really good at making disaster movies.

@KievsOutTheOven

I can’t watch them without saying “well that wouldn’t happen!

I think they're ALL like that! Completely stupid & fake, but at the same time get the adrenalin pumping because your brain is still trying to figure out how to survive it, IF it was real....

... and sometimes there's also the 'he's hot & strong, he can throw me around anytime he wants....🤭

Q1w2e3 · 07/03/2023 06:42

These are my favourite type of film so thanks for the suggestions.

Dudum · 07/03/2023 08:14

"I can’t watch them without saying “well that wouldn’t happen!”"

I don't think you need to study disaster response to have this reaction. Everyone does 🤷🏽‍♀️

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/03/2023 08:15

Arrival
The Martian

BasiliskStare · 07/03/2023 14:56

I watched Independence Day in the cinema at the time ( talking of - well that would not happen ) & when Jeff Goldblum plugged his computer into the alien ship ( I am thinking of the right one here am I ) I said to DH - well we have two offices and they are going over from Token Ring to Ethernet & I can't even plug my laptop in at office two . & He just looked at me said - Of all the unbelievable things in this film - that is the one you have picked up on 😂

Reign of fire

Rollercoaster1920 · 07/03/2023 17:59

Blackout. A German TV mini series on Disney+

Vitriolinsanity · 07/03/2023 20:06

Not a movie, but Chernobyl

DappledThings · 07/03/2023 20:08

Moonfall. I love a cheesy disaster movie.

BibbleandSqwauk · 07/03/2023 20:10

As others have said, find Day after Tomorrow on prime and then follow the "you might also like" suggestions. Love and Monsters was great, a slightly different twist on it. Most of them are awful, especially the scripts, and you can see why the big hits made it, but they're entertaining trash.

Lillagroda · 07/03/2023 20:15

Unstoppable - just to throw some train crash action into the mix.

StuntPigeon · 07/03/2023 20:18

How it ends is a good one. On Prime I think.

ZombieKettle · 07/03/2023 20:22

Great thread - I love disaster movies. I've just googled Flood (TV series recommended by others) and it's available to watch for free on the My5 app in the UK (for Channel 5). You just need to register for an account and sign in. So that's tonight's viewing sorted! 😂

Oh nooo.. I couldn't stand this one! The film didn't end it just ... stopped.

Justforlaffs · 07/03/2023 20:27

All the ones everyone has mentioned - love a good disaster movie.

Has anyone mentioned Anaconda with J-Lo yet? And Deep Blue Sea with Samuel L Jackson? Disaster movies involving snakes and sharks!!

ZombieKettle · 07/03/2023 20:29

Just spotted this on 4All. It's called The Tunnel and is Norwegian.

If I like the day after tomorrow
Justforlaffs · 07/03/2023 20:29

Oh, and Tremors with Kevin Bacon - giant killer worms!

I NEVER tire of that film.

AngeliqueDePeyrac · 07/03/2023 20:34

All the above, but also:
Speed
Daylight
Skyscraper (not seen this)
Congo
The Impossible
Alive
Yellowjackets TV series

Iris1976 · 07/03/2023 20:35

Although most on my list are not a technical natural disaster (but there was an iceberg involved)Titanic.
The Impossible is about the boxing day Tsunami.
If you like clever dogs Eight below is a fantastic film.
Towering inferno,Steve McQueen and Paul Newman,Fred Astaire.
The peseidon Adventure 1972 version and 2005.

Greentree1 · 07/03/2023 20:45

A bit more bleak but, 'On The Beach', really nasty, everyone dies. Also 'The Beach' a bit of fun to start and then downhill. 'The Day After', again not fun!

Custardbanana · 07/03/2023 20:45

Children of Men. Not quite Hollywood disaster but still end of the world type situation.

MumUndone · 07/03/2023 20:49

Sharknado
