Aren't courgettes just gorgeous to chop?

I'm making a veggie chilli for dinner and it just occurred to me how pleasingly perfect they are to chop up... Just the right amount of resistance 😊.
That's it really. Anyone with me? 😁

Yes! Never thought about it by now you mention it... much more pleasing than something like a carrot!

PussyGaPaw · 28/02/2023 14:43

Exactly! Too much resistance from a carrot. Or a potato. Not quite enough from a mushroom. And not fiddly like garlic or onion. Just right 😂

I’d put aubergines in the same category!

Ooh, no... The skin on an aubergine takes a bit too much getting through for my liking.

An absolute veg prepping delight, pity they don't taste better Grin

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 28/02/2023 14:54

Agree. And gorgeous to griddle too.

Auberginist.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 28/02/2023 14:57

Courgettes, absolutely.

Where do we stand on fruits? I might say a pear.

ODFOx · 28/02/2023 14:57

Courgettes are also a pleasure to grate for the same reason.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 28/02/2023 15:00

I always feel that aubergines promise more than they deliver. But I continue to fall for it.

Astonished no one has come here with avocado chat yet.

DutchKatje · 28/02/2023 15:14

Funny enough, I diced a celery stick at lunch for my tuna salad and thought how pleasing it was. Just the right sort of crunch!

I had an avocado related injury

You don't get that with a takeaway do you

PussyGaPaw · 28/02/2023 16:17

You see, avocados and pears have faffy innards. Plus the juiciness of a pear is irritating (delicious yes, but that's not the point). I agree that celery does have a pleasing crunch when chopped but it's too resistance-y to rival the courgette.

It's the perfect ASMR vegetable.

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 28/02/2023 16:18

It's up there with writing on a banana with a ballpoint pen.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/02/2023 16:18

Yes to courgettes. The worst one is butternut squash I reckon. They're vicious!

SunnyDaysAheadGang · 28/02/2023 16:20

Ooo i do love a courgette 💚

SummerHouse · 28/02/2023 16:23

Yes, all veg is rage chopped, apart from my special, the courgette. What a joy amongst a bunch of seedy, smelly, resistant bastards.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/02/2023 16:26

Cucumbers are nicer to chop than they are to eat.

SummerHouse · 28/02/2023 16:26

Thoughts on cucumber? A nice chopper but a definite salad guy so I guess he can't compete in this category?

soleilblue · 28/02/2023 16:27

Mushrooms

MyLittlePonyWellies · 28/02/2023 16:27

Yes, you're right. They're the only thing I actually enjoy chopping now that I think about it

bellac11 · 28/02/2023 16:30

Compared to Celeriac and Butternut squash most things are lovely. I have very weak hand strength and cannot work with those two.

SummerHouse · 28/02/2023 16:31

I have a twofold business ideas.

  1. wellness centre with personal station, board, knife and all the courgettes
  2. courgette fritters

Takers?
