Aren't courgettes just gorgeous to chop?

I'm making a veggie chilli for dinner and it just occurred to me how pleasingly perfect they are to chop up... Just the right amount of resistance 😊.
That's it really. Anyone with me? 😁

YANBU I do love chopping courgettes. I don’t much like eating them though, I only actually enjoy them barbecued or griddled with garlic oil and as I don’t have a griddle pan anymore and it’s too cold for bbqs I’ve not had one for ages.
<Adds courgette to shopping list>

BurningBright · 28/02/2023 16:33

I'm rather partial to the slicing of peppers.

Although there is the deseeding faffery to contend with first, I'll admit.

mrsm43s · 28/02/2023 16:34

Has anyone tried peeling mushrooms? I mean, they don't need peeling, but the feeling of peeling that layer of skin off and leaving clean, fresh white underneath is just delicious.

I’m making a Prawn and Courgette Rigatoni for dinner tonight and thoroughly looking forward to chopping the courgette!

Turnips/Swede- the bastard of all vegetables to chop 😤

Water chestnuts.
(that's just me being attention seeking and a bit showy. Cannot even remember the last time I chopped a water chestnut.)

Ohyoudodoyou · 28/02/2023 16:41

washing a courgette under the tap whilst running your hand up and down it always makes me glad no one is around to see that.

shakeitoffsis · 28/02/2023 16:43

Yes! My absolute fave to chop. Celery is a close second!!

lovem · 28/02/2023 16:47

Pears! Definitely pears.

And I have a special joy from leeks somehow too, they make the right level of crunchiness.

Where do I sign up?

EasterlyDirection · 28/02/2023 16:53

Cutting into a lime is one of my favourite things to do, that burst of zesty fragrance is hard to beat.

mum11970 · 28/02/2023 16:55

Wouldn’t know. Courgettes 🤮

Izearle · 28/02/2023 17:34

Yes! And yesterday I used my peeler to make courgette ribbons for a salad. Was lovely!

(and at the opposite end of the scale, onions are pure Satan)

Cucumbers are nicer to chop than they are to eat.

What is this strange, exotic thing of which you speak?

FelicityBeedle · 28/02/2023 17:40

Celery to fry off is undoubtedly my favourite, a nice clean slice or two down the middle then finely chopping it is the only time I achieve a proper ‘chef’s chop chop chop motion.

Wilkolampshade · 28/02/2023 17:51

DD1 always insisted courgettes were 'sly'.
She's a mystery to me.

AmandaClare · 28/02/2023 17:52

Up there with writing in biro on a banana.

purpledalmation · 28/02/2023 17:59

Just done sweet potato, parsnips and mushrooms and the courgette was perfect to cut.

I sort of get that, but I cant explain why.

I do maintain that avocados are untrustworthy but thats because one minute they're like bullets and you literally turn your back for a few minutes and they've collapsed in on themselves.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 28/02/2023 18:04

You've spurred me on to go and cook our chicken and courgette teriyaki tea. Agreed 100% OP and feel very pleased you've made this point in writing.

It's up there with writing on a banana with a ballpoint pen.

I knew I couldn't be the only one who writes on bananas!

Courgettes are definitely the best thing to chop. Raw potato comes a close second for me.

Netcam · 28/02/2023 18:10

Definitely, quickest vegetables to cut to go with a lazy dinner. Shame only DH and I eat them, my teens don't like them. Also the easiest veg to grow, we always have several plants in the summer in our little garden and eat a courgette daily.

Hohofortherobbers · 28/02/2023 14:52

LadyMargaretDevereux · 28/02/2023 18:11

Totally agree on courgettes - they are lovely to cut up. I like this thread very much.

Jux · 28/02/2023 18:13

Courgette chopped and fried in butter is one of my absolutely favourite foods.
