I'm heading to the chippy for tea for me and the kids tonight, what would you like and I'll add it onto my order?

Fish, chips and mushy peas. A side of gravy and a well buttered barm with lots and lots of salt and vinegar pleaseGrin and a can of dandelion and burdock to wash it down

A barm. North west are you? Warmed my heart reading that.

RuppyDa · 23/02/2023 19:16

Smoked sausage supper with a half pizza crunch, a pickle and a can of fat coke. Tomato ketchup or curry sauce out the Chinese .
omg can people post pics if they actually get their chippy tea. 😋

So many posters saying "fish" rather than a particular species !
I'd go for skate or rock salmon, & a wally.
I'd love proper chips, they always seem to be soggy from chippies.

We don't all have posh chippies. Here the big choice is yellow chips or orange chips. Fish, however, is just fish.

glittereyelash · 23/02/2023 19:17

Veggie burger, chips, onion rings, curry sauce 😋

Tarkan · 23/02/2023 19:17

Thanks to this thread I asked DD to go to the chippy on her way home from her drum lesson.

I went for chips, cheese and curry sauce but DD also gave me some of the meat from her chips, cheese and donner which is amazing on top of mine. Grin

DESGUSTING · 23/02/2023 19:18

What's orange chips?! 🤯

Round here it’s cheesy chips. Might be different elsewhere

I've already eaten a good lot of it and there's a lot of curry sauce but here you go. Grin

(Chips, cheese and curry sauce with the last bit of donner meat that DD gave me.)

Chippy tea- what's your order?
Roundaboot · 23/02/2023 19:21

Cod, chips and mushy peas please! Or if I've got some in I'll do my own mushy peas so they're nice and hot and I get enough (chippies are always stingey with peas). Lots of salt and vinegar please, extra on the peas and ketchup for the chips

LindorDoubleChoc · 23/02/2023 19:21

Small cod, small chips and tartare sauce. The tartare sauce you get in little sachets from the chippy is the best ever!

Favouritefruits · 23/02/2023 19:22

Scampi, chips, gravy AND curry sauce please

BorisJohnsonsHair · 23/02/2023 19:22

Haddock, chips, mushy peas, loads of salt and vinegar. Soft bread roll with butter.

Favouritefruits · 23/02/2023 19:23

Oh and a fresh barm please…

axillarytailofspence · 23/02/2023 19:28

Scallop, mushy peas and small cod. Ta mutchly.

Question for you all... In Leicestershire we used to call potato fritters 'scallops'. Up here in the North West they are called 'Smacks' What do you call them???

Yeah, no cheese in the Black Country chippies

It's kinda got batter in the oil so the chips come out a bit crunchy and they add something so they look orange

hookiewookie29 · 23/02/2023 19:29

Donner with salad and mayo please!

Writerscompanion · 23/02/2023 19:29

Not near Hythe but feel a trip coming on, @incitethismeetingtorebellion!

I've never known them as anything other than fritters. I saw scollop mentioned on another MN post recently and that was the first time ever I had heard of that. I would have imagined seafood like the OP of that thread did!

SleepingStandingUp · 23/02/2023 19:30

Orange chips.

Chippy tea- what's your order?
Derrymum123 · 23/02/2023 19:31

Haddock and chips with tartar sauce please. Spam fritter for later. Thank you.

Itisbetter · 23/02/2023 19:31

Couple of eggs to fry and I’m in. Egg and proper chips is a joy

bcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyza · 23/02/2023 19:31

Sausage supper and cheese, with equi ice cream after

Inthevalley · 23/02/2023 19:32

Chips (loads of salt and vinegar) and mushy peas. Mushy peas have to be separate, don't want soggy chips, and preferably with mint sauce.

LozzaChops101 · 23/02/2023 19:33

About 12 mushy pea fritters please.

iwantthatbaar · 23/02/2023 19:35

Bean buster and a single white pudding please
