Anyone had their £200 additional oil/LPG/off grid payment yet?

I had heard they'd be paid from 6th February. Had my £67 electricity payment as usual today from EDF but not the additional £200. We are in a village with no gas supply so should be on the lists that were supposed to have been supplied to the energy companies. Hope we're not going to have to wait until 9th March now as my oil tank is getting low. I only bought 500 litres (instead of 1000) last time as I was hoping the payment would come through before that ran out.

Not yet, this was shared on our village Facebook group but nothing specific included:

No....shhh but I really don't understand why we are getting it, given that oil prices STILL have not hit the peaks we had in 2012-2014, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, given the electricity rises, and am thankful we have a large enough tank and use a low enough amount I can shop around the weather forecast, makes us a LOT luckier than people tied to gas prices. Have not paid over 72p (an increase from 42p previously,, but sadly missed the 20p covid blip as no room in the tank!) I do monitor prices and forecasts, and think the cost will come down after the forecast cooler spell of weather coming up, as the wholesale price has gone down a lot and there is a glut on the market. Personally I'd hang on if you don't need it.

The email I got from SSE said if you pay by DD you’ll get cash in the bank, if you pay upon receipt of bill, it’ll be put on your account.

We got and e-mail from OVO earlier this week saying it will be paid soon. Not sure what that means! we pay DD so it will be paid into our bank account.
our oil doesn’t seem to have cost us more this year - but we will put it on the account ready for next winter I think.

kernowpicklepie · 09/02/2023 16:37

I read that for DD payers it will be credited to account and for prepayment meters it will be a voucher. Frustrating really as could do with it towards our oil not more on the electric meter

Badbudgeter · 09/02/2023 16:42

I’ve not heard from EDF yet but find them slow to communicate. My friend with SSE got an email to say it would be paid this month. I should be getting £150 warm home discount, £200 alternative fuel and I got an email from ovo that my next payment for solar panels will be £222 and some pence. Hopefully I can refill the the oil tank and that’ll be it until the other side of summer.

@Ariela I keep hoping it's coming down in price again. Maybe I'll only order 500 litres again but we don't use much oil once the heating goes off as it only heats the hot water for a couple of hours a day and we have a well insulated tank.
I'd like to hold off ordering but our supplier has gone from reliably delivering within 2 days to there being up to a 2 week wait - probably because everyone is ordering smaller amounts so needing more deliveries!

How do they know who to pay? We pay our oil supplier via credit card once the tank has been filled up.

@FatSealSmugSoup I was expecting to see it in my bank account alongside the £67 payment but sadly not.

Well… I’m not even on “alternative fuel”. Seems to be anyone who doesn’t get gas as mains gets this payment - apparently it was Too complex to assess each individual case.

@Dogsgottabone I wondered how they will distinguish between those in our village who use oil/lpg/solid fuel and those who heat by electricity. In our street alone we've got houses on economy 7, air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, lpg and oil - and that's only 40 houses in a sizeable village

No sign of it on electricity account or in bank account. I've heard nothing from EON but the gas supplier sent an email it would be happening from Feb. It's not that easy to move about for better prices with an LPG account so the AFP will be gratefully received.

Dogsgottabone · 09/02/2023 17:01

I didn't even know it was a payment I might receive so honestly I feel like I've had a bonus seeing this thread! We've spent £1900 on oil since october, so it's a welcome boost.

Ricco12 · 09/02/2023 17:13

Meant to be credited from 6th feb till 10th march so hopefully should see it this month on your electric account or a voucher if prepay meter.

SummerSazz · 09/02/2023 18:30

We are on oil as no mains gas

Would I expect a payment through EDF or direct from somewhere? Just filled up £1,000 tank but pay oil supplier directly...

cptartapp · 09/02/2023 18:33

Nothing received yet.

@SummerSazz my understanding is that you'll get it from EDF. I'm with them too.

I had an email yesterday from OVO saying it will be deducted from my next bill, due beginning of March.

elf1985 · 09/02/2023 19:03

Does anyone know if you get it for electricity as main form of heating?

You get it via your leccy company, if you live in an area not supplied by mains gas. Think its worked out by your postcode..
I presumed if you dont have mains gas but its in your area, you wouldnt get it, but i might be wrong!?

SummerSazz · 09/02/2023 19:17

Thanks @bigbluebus I"ll look out for it. I don't have much faith in EDF <understatement> but they may get this right..... 🤔

@elf1985 It's only supposed to be for people using oil, LPG or Biomass fuels but I'm mystified as to how they'll know who uses what in areas off the gas grid so I can see some people who heat by electricity might possibly get it even though they're not supposed to.

Spoke to Octopus yesterday.

They said they knew there was a payment planned but they have no visibility on when.

My LPG goes up with every fill and I needed it before Christmas. Have no idea why they are delaying so long.

Elderflower14 · 09/02/2023 19:25

We have oil.... How do I sort the payment???

Caterina99 · 09/02/2023 19:51

Following with interest. We are with Scottish power and I’ve heard nothing at all about it from them.

We are in an area with no mains gas, and most people have oil, so I assumed we should be one of those who receive it automatically. I guess we’ll see…
