What basic simple thing are you sh*t at?

I can’t cook rice. If you want rice you can cook it yourself. And I can pull together a roast from scratch and every meal in between without much thought, but for some reason, unless it’s in a microwave bag, I can’t cook rice.

I can’t cook poached eggs either but I feel I’m not alone there.

I can only do stairs subconsciously - the moment I think about how I’m doing them, disaster !!

Good at parallel parking tho, and eggs !

I can't judge volume.

Mum would just take a load of dried spaghetti and know this is the right amount for 5 people or right amt for 3 or whatever by eye. Same with rice, and anything else like that.

I can't.

Phone calls.. I hate answering the phone and calling people. I've been this way for years and it doesn't get better 🙈

@Uberbeeboo Me too 🙈 I wouldn't mind but when I was a teen my parents couldn't get me off the phone to my friends.

Also can't meal plan. I sit down to do it and my mind goes blank. On the rare occasions I do manage it, something crops up during the week and all my plans go out the window.

Can't make omelettes.

Can't walk down stairs without looking down. Would love to be able to bounce down stairs, looking ahead of you as you do it.

Scones are often a disaster.

Pumpkin carving. I have a craft- based job. Can make a good fist of most creative things (I've just finished making DS1 's birthday cake, and it's a corker). Yet I could not carve a decent looking pumpkin if my life depended on it.

I cant cut straight using scissors
I can't catch a ball
I can't make Yorkshire puddings
I can't put new shoes back in a box so they fit in together

I'm rubbish at parking and can barely swim ( although may just need lessons !)

Whistling.
Running. The only running I do is the bath.
Painting my nails. I look like I've dipped my fingers in a tub of Dulux.

@Koicrap no, not a hairdresser fortunately!

I have good spatial awareness, can parallel park, read a map accurately, never get lost, can find somewhere again that I've only been to once before, judge speed, distance, length etc. but can't cut a straight line. Never could when I was a child and still can't.

Admin and wrapping presents.
Wrapping is always bulky and messy. I envy those who can wrap beautifully.

Rice is one of the few things I can cook well - the more the better as it’s harder for me getting the proportions for a small amount.

My other cooking and practical skills are almost none existent though - I could lie and say cerebral palsy but actually it was never learning/paying attention.

Ill bring some rice if you’ll just make that roast @Koicrap ….

Parking. I drive 30,000 miles a year but cant park when i get there. Half of that is circling car parks looking for a triple space...

100% this. I am so happy that parallel parking wasn't something that I was asked to do on my test.

@SeaToSki my family are genuinely surprised when I catch a ball. I think maybe some undiagnosed dyspraxia on my end. No coordination whatsoever.

If I caught a ball my family would call Mulder and Scully! It would be a sure sign I'd been replaced by an alien lifeform
