What's your favourite gin? Looking for gift ideas for someone who likes gin and has several already but not loads.

As someone who enjoys the juniper taste of gin my favourites are Tanqueray and Gordon's.

If they love gin they may not thank you for flavoured gins which are for people who don't like gin IMO

I love a good junipery gin and hate a lot of the flavoured ones, but there are some I love.

My favourites that I replace when they're finished are the blue Mermaid, Twisted Nose, Chase pink grapefruit & pomelo, Hendricks and good old Gordons.

Trevethan and the Hendricks Neptunia both nice with great bottles, always a bonus.

(I see Mermaid have a new variety, will give that a go ... not a fan of the strawberry, but like the sound of the new one.)

The Sipsmith berry one is nice

The zesty one is delicious have you tried it? In a green bottle

I 'may' have just ordered a bottle of this. 😆 Hadn't seen that one.

SmartHome · 28/01/2023 09:36

I like Gin and have tried a lot of brands. I hate to say it, because it seems a bit boring, but Gordon's is the nicest imo. I do like flavored gin as well and my favourite is Gordons pink gin.

RampantIvy · 28/01/2023 12:00

I have done a few blind gin tastings and I always end up liking Gordons best of all. I think it is because it is very junipery, which is what I like in a gin.

There was a TV programme on a couple of years ago (Tried and Tasted) where they did blind taste tests of various foods and drinks, and Gordons won the gin tasting on that as well.

OldTinHat · 28/01/2023 12:14

Mermaid.

whiteroseredrose · 28/01/2023 12:14

Gin Mare, Manchester Gin Wild Spirit and the Irish one in the blue ridged bottle

BeReet · 28/01/2023 12:18

My absolute favourite is Caorun but I am also partial to a Bombay Sapphire or a Tanqueray. I like my gin to taste of gin, I'm not a fan at all of all these flavoured things

Whitney168 · 28/01/2023 12:22

I do think there are flavoured gins and flavoured gins ... some seem to be designed to hide the juniper, but for me at least some of them definitely complement it - a bitter citrus, a seaweed/rosemary/salty hint. I don't want gin to be 'fruity', but some of them I love.

I also had a gin at Ragdale Hall this month and the bartender zested a bit of lemon in to it, rather than putting a slice in - that was fabulous.

Harris gin. Very distinctive taste, beautiful bottle, and you can't buy it just anywhere.

hugoagogo · 28/01/2023 13:10

Another Tanquary fan here, Edinburgh gin is also very nice.

Pasithean · 28/01/2023 13:12

traintraveller · 28/01/2023 13:16

I find harris gin very sweet.
I like Lussa, Botanist and York gin. I had Bath distillery gin last week and it was nice. Costs vary, do you have a budget?

Vicliz24 · 28/01/2023 13:21

Tanqueray with a slice of cucumber and Mediterranean tonic in the summer but ordinary tonic in winter . I do reserve a love for Edinburgh Elderflower too .

stargirl1701 · 28/01/2023 13:22

Agree with your last comment! Although can't beat a homemade sloe gin (for which Gordon's is the best for).

Tanqueray, Hendricks or Sipsmith for me.

TheMousePipes · 28/01/2023 15:37
