What's your favourite gin? Looking for gift ideas for someone who likes gin and has several already but not loads.

Gin reminds me of summer! A simple gin, tonic, slice of lime, tall glass, a good book or good company, seaside. Sigh.
i found thus guide for something special:

A dry gin I enjoyed immensely was Williams GB Chase. Not overly expensive either!

LizzieMacQueen · 28/01/2023 00:02

Mentioned upthread too, but definitely Cotswolds. Best tasting one to me anyway.

The gin and rhubarb gin liqueur ( the edinburgh one ) is delicious with a prosecco mixer.

Mmm! I've been drinking G&T for the last 35 years - I was told it was an 'old persons' drink back then - was a teenager! I like a gin tasting gin- Tanqueray/Bombay Sapphire and yes even 'Gordons' are my go to drinks. The flavoured stuff not so much. Half of it doesn't taste like gin at all!
I like a couple of Tanqueray 'Sevilla' with ginger ale now and again and the odd rhubarb/ginger one but only a couple at most then back to the plain stuff!

Yep I agree with all of this

Origamiheaven · 28/01/2023 00:08

Bathtub is my absolute favourite

oranga · 28/01/2023 00:13

I've never had a bad gin from the craft gin company - you could buy a subscription for your friend? I also dislike fruit flavoured gins but love Ophir Hendricks and Bombay Sapphire

mrsfollowill · 28/01/2023 00:16

'Ophir' is lovely - has a savoury flavour to it - would make a great present and the bottle is really nice and looks a bit special.

Dartmoorcheffy · 28/01/2023 00:18

If you aren't sure which gin to get then maybe get her a really nice gin glass. I'm very particular about what I have mine in. 😁

I was given Bathtub gin for Christmas which is good
Very clean tasting but hints of orange and spice
Otherwise I like Tanqueray

cailingaelach · 28/01/2023 00:23

Gunpowder is my favourite.

dicdicnurse · 28/01/2023 00:27

I love Ophir, silent pool and Tenby gin. Also a Spanish gin with botanicals that taste reminiscent of Turkish delight. My sister bought me a bottle in the US and I've not been able to source it here, nor can I remember the name!

downtonupton · 28/01/2023 00:29

Bathtub Gin is my favourite

As someone who enjoys the juniper taste of gin my favourites are Tanqueray and Gordon's.

If they love gin they may not thank you for flavoured gins which are for people who don't like gin IMO

Totally agree, as a long time gin drinker ( in moderation I hasten to add!), I really do not like these flavoured gins which people rave about nowadays - lightweights!

Give me a quality London Dry gin anytime! There are some really nice ones made by small distilleries which I enjoy as a treat.

Isle of Harris is lovely, as is their award winning bottle which looks nice filled with lights when it's empty. They have matching glasses and a refill bottle too.

Harris
or Lussa Gin is good but v different. It's floral where as Harris is dry

GlamGiraffe · 28/01/2023 01:16

I actually really like Spanish Larios, its very gin-ny. Its also been strangely popular with other gin friends (best of all its 10euro a bottle in Spain so I leave suitcase room for some!).
Chase pomelo and grapefruit is a flavoured gin which is very bright tasting but still obviously gin.
Bombay sapphire is a classic!

FlatPackHarry · 28/01/2023 01:26

Any of the St. George gins. They're all amazing.

Monkeybutt1 · 28/01/2023 07:37

I love gin but plain and flavoured. The best gins I have been bought as gifts are Roku and Silent Pool.

pistachioicecream · 28/01/2023 07:39

Another vote for Brockmans.

Blindsandcurtains · 28/01/2023 07:40

Aldi orange and lime. Actually prefer it to the tanqueray sevilla these days.

Piapea · 28/01/2023 07:44

Gunpowder Gin for me. Serve it with a slice grapefruit. The bottle is really beautiful as well.

MinnieMountain · 28/01/2023 08:06

Tanqueray 10. Anything with fruit in it isn’t gin in my opinion. See also cider made with anything but apples.

RampantIvy · 28/01/2023 08:39

I feel that Ophir gin is a bit marmite. All I can taste is the cardamon, which I love, but not in a drink.

thesonicoscillator · 28/01/2023 09:09

Roku - Japanese Gin
Old school gins: Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire

Tried this once on a trip the Peak District, gorgeous bottle too:

Just tried Warners, excellent. Currently on offer in Waitrose with a free glass in a nice box so great as a present. Win, win.
I also like Roku, Silent Pool, Tanqueray 10, Caorunn and Botanist.
Monkey is overrated for the money IMO.
