Best jacket potato fillings?

Jacket potatoes are in the oven crisping up nicely. What are your favourite fillings? I normally just default to a monsoon of beans and cheese 😋

Bacon, cheese and sour cream

cobblers123 · 24/01/2023 19:02

Butter, cheese and a moat of baked beans is my usual filling but I also like tuna, spring onions and mayo mixed up and dolloped in the middle.

I occasionally scoop out the potato of both halves, mix with butter and cheese, pile back in, more cheese on top and return to oven until cheese is melted and golden brown.

All of the above delicious.

Knob of butter, salt and pepper, then a massive dollop of soured cream and some chopped chives.

That's my perfect, anyway...

Tuna mayo but with salad cream instead of mayo.
Cheese and coleslaw.
Cottage cheese ( preferably Longley Farm, or Lidl which is similar).

JoBrodie · 24/01/2023 19:04

My favourite is hot baked beans and cold cottage cheese & chives on top (@CrimsonThunder is right about it ideally being from Longley Farm*).

Here's a text based diagram ;)

Cottage cheese and chives (chilled)
Baked beans (heated)
Butter or marg
The potato (........................... optional side order of peas / green beans)
Plate

*Sainsbury's have it, or here's the store locator for independents longleyfarm.com/pages/store-locator

I agree re Vivaldi potatoes,so buttery you don't need to add any butter.

WeWereInParis · 24/01/2023 19:07

Cut in half, scoop out the filling, and mash it. Mix in some chopped bacon fried with some garlic, and some grated cheese (maybe a bit of mustard as well), scoop back into the skins and sprinkle with a bit more cheese and put under the grill.

Hear me out !

Sliced mushrooms cooked in a bit of butter with a few chilli flakes

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 24/01/2023 19:08

Beans and coleslaw together or tuna and beans. I think it's the cold/hot combo of the fillings I love.

BurbageBrook · 24/01/2023 18:43

Chilli con carne with grated mature cheddar on top.
Or beans with cheese ON TOP of the beans. I hate when I order one at work and they often put cheese underneath the beans 😨

CHEESE UNDERNEATH THE BEANS ? ?

SeatonCarew · 24/01/2023 19:13

Amen to so many of the above , but also lashings of cauliflower cheese made with a strong cheddar, broccoli and a single German Bockwurst. Food of the gods.

lissie123 · 24/01/2023 19:14

oh dear I have a screw loose. I roasted some chickpeas and added them to my jacket potato last night. It was like bullets in a bog. Never again.

PicklesAndTequila · 24/01/2023 19:16

Cottage cheese and chives.
