On mumsnet? I don't think you can block a user.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 22/01/2023 13:07

I don't think you can block a user on MN.

NoSquirrels · 22/01/2023 13:08

You can’t. Why?

zen1 · 22/01/2023 13:08

You can block private messages in talk settings, but you can’t block individual users.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 22/01/2023 13:09

Are you a premium member? There's never been a block member facility

VogueDarling · 22/01/2023 13:10

I think you can only stop getting private messages but tbh I never look at them anyway- just checked now and have an unread one from 6 months ago with an OP asking for more information on something oops

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 22/01/2023 13:11

Why do you want to block the user and who is it? 😆
#nosey

PAFMO · 22/01/2023 13:14

You can report users if you think their comments to you are breaking guidelines.
@RichardOsmansXraySpecs some weird shit about Russians I think. It's a bit bonkers.

Flapjackquack · 22/01/2023 13:15

I’m guessing it’s a poster disagreeing about this poster’s views on Ukraine? Just disengage and stop answering. It’s the MN equivalent of walking away.

FamousPrincess · 22/01/2023 16:18

As expected, no help whatsoever.

Posters have helped, we've told you it's not possible. What else can anyone do?

You can block someone from sending you a private message but only if they have sent you a private message already.

Flapjackquack · 22/01/2023 17:57

The only blocked posters list I can see is in my inbox, so blocking private messages from certain posters. You can’t stop people you don’t like posting on your threads, it’s a public forum.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 22/01/2023 17:59

How do you see any private messages if you're using the app?

I thought OP meant that the poster could still post on their thread or reply, but it would be like "mute" on Twitter maybe?

SoupDragon · 22/01/2023 18:00

click (1) choose Private messages, select the message from the person you want to block, click the 3 dots and then block user.

Would you like it more if we lied to you?

IncompleteSenten · 22/01/2023 18:03

You can block someone from sending you private messages but Mumsnet does not have a feature that enables you to block a poster so you won't see their posts on threads.

Just ignore them. You don't have to respond to or interact with a poster you don't like.

Pleasant.

SmileyClare · 22/01/2023 18:03

Users can’t cancel other users on a public chat forum. Even if you’re called “princess”

You’ve been helpfully advised ..

1.Block pms

2.Report comments which break forum guidelines

3.Don’t engage

I’m guessing based on the thread I think OP is referring to here and another thread I had the pleasure of encountering OP on.

Extendivecover · 22/01/2023 18:08

You're just rude

OnePerson · 22/01/2023 18:10

You can't block users on the boards.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 22/01/2023 18:13

Well that took a turn 😆
