The Op is a little bit odd.

Cocobutt · 22/01/2023 18:20

I don’t know if any way to block someone but if they’re sending you private messages just don’t read them, they will soon get bored.

If they are harassing you then you can report them to MNHQ.

Users can’t cancel other users on a public chat forum. Even if you’re called “princess”

You’ve been helpfully advised ..

1.Block pms

2.Report comments which break forum guidelines

3.Don’t engage

Actually, the vast majority of forums have a feature to ignore other users.

It's not cancelling them, as they can still post, but you can choose not to see it.

CocoLux · 22/01/2023 18:22

Just ignore.

blocking someone isn't 'cancelling' them.

christ.

ScorchBeastQueen · 22/01/2023 18:23

lol thread and the OPs response just told me so much about the OPs character 🤣

it's not twitter you can't live in a a little bubble only seeing opinions you approve of. Get a grip and grow up.

Can you imagine the chaos that would cause here, it would be cancel the cheque on steroids.

I actually would like a function like this. I can think of a few thread derailers that I'd love to not have to read.

LIZS · 22/01/2023 18:40

You can report offensive posts or personal attacks. Report is on the < menu above the post on right (on app) and select Report.

Genuinely, I'm not sure how it would cause chaos? People don't know they've been put on "user ignore" and other people will still respond to their posts.

Generally, it helps avoid arguments.

ScorchBeastQueen · 22/01/2023 18:45

or you just ignore their posts......
it's really easy, see the name, roll yours eyes, think shit stirrer and scroll on by.

I was thinking people would be just repeating things they couldn’t see other people saying as they were blocked, but thinking about it people do that anyway and you’d probably have to block a lot of people for it to be an issue, so I take back what I said.

PollyAmour · 22/01/2023 18:49

I blocked someone on another forum I used to use, and I found myself clicking on 'show ignored content' every single time, too nosey for my own good. So yeah, an ignore function is a waste of time, just rise above the poster's comments that are irritating you.

In a recent thread, there was a user deliberately posting things that were intended to offend but not rule breaking and also repeatedly quoting some posters.

It's easy enough to say "ignore" but in that situation often your only option is to leave the thread.

Which allows trolls to push other people off threads and make their views sound like the majority opinion.

Generally, people don't ignore that many people. On the forum I am on with this feature, I only have one person on ignore.

As expected, no help whatsoever.

If you find out please let us know so that we can all block you!

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 22/01/2023 18:55

tbh, MN is the site that you can easily avoid posters without blocking, since they don't directly respond to your comment, so unless you actively look and read, it's so easy to ignore the comment by certain posters. Even if you are tagged, there is a function to ignore notifying you when you are tagged.

People have helped, told you that there is no block function except for private messages.
What can people do to help if there is no way to block the poster?

Sounds rude, no wonder why you want to block users, but I bet the feeling must be mutual.

why not just report them for goading? I've done it in the past. if they are goading then plenty of people can report.

From the response by OP, sounds like she is the one to be blocked, if we were able to. 😁

OK, at last, thanks to those that helped.
