What a bizarre thread.

You can't ban posters.

Testino · 25/01/2023 09:25

OP are you from space?

Your replies are amusing and seems to be for a secret post on this thread. Is there someone commenting that we can't see? Perhaps I've blocked them accidentally? 😅

SoupDragon · 25/01/2023 09:25

Assuming you mean block PMs from a user, name changes are still attached to one account so unless they have a sock puppet, I suppose they would be blocked. Otherwise there would be little point.

Take it as you like but I have reoccuring dreams at times of stress that I'm from the planet Uranus.

Interesting. 🔮

I hope you're alright though?

You can't block or ban posters on mumsnet. That's the simple answer to your thread/posts/questions.

Testino · 25/01/2023 09:35

Except on private messages that is. You can block a poster from sending pms.

I actually would like a function like this. I can think of a few thread derailers that I'd love to not have to read.

@DerekFaker

it only works if you're not nosy though!! 🤣🤣 no matter how fucking annoying they are, I found not knowing what they were posting & subsequent people were talking about them having posted even more annoying!!!

OneFrenchEgg · 25/01/2023 09:39

I'd love a block poster function. The turning off @ is fine but limited as it's all or nothing. Helpful posts directed to me about SEND or uni would get missed because poster imatwat can't stop goading on a different thread.

Yeah that would be an issue!

moonriverandme · 25/01/2023 10:32

I thought only Mumsnet hq could ban posters. Individual members can block private messages. You can report posters to mumsnet & presumably if enough people do or the poster is repeatedly offensive they are banned. Not sure how they discover a previously banned poster has reposted under a different name.

LivMumsnet · 25/01/2023 12:00

Hi everyone - looks like the OP has received the advice they required. Thanks to all who took the time to advise. As pp have mentioned, there is no 'block' button on our talk forums. However, it is possible to block a poster who has sent you a private message if you don't wish to engage with them. Hope that helps. Smile

ReneBumsWombats · 25/01/2023 12:35

I don't need a button to do my ignoring for me.

Hi
Please ignore my previous post this morning
I did not note this message from the hosts.

Dear MNHQ nice staff
Please consider banning the name changes as it just leads to confusion.
Indeed,, new account new name is easier to spot.

Please, please consider the above request as it will be easier to recognise and just ignore those that are deliberately obtuse or worse.

Thank you

Hi

This is what I mean

Good morning, :)

Mummieslncorporated · 26/01/2023 09:38

Dear MNHQ nice staff
Please consider not banning the name changes as it allows people to post sensitive information without fear of being outed and any previous posts being linked.

Please, please consider the above request as mumsnet is a place that many go to receive advice on tough subjects such as domestic abuse, rape, relationship difficulties, and the ability to name change helps give people peace of mind.

Thank you

Why do I get the feeling that OP's husband sometimes T-rexes in the supermarket?

Don't worry, I think MNHQ can recognise and ignore posters making suggestions like this, even if they name change.

Incredible
Are deliberately being obtuse
I clearly showed an example of how a nmae change can confuse posters, other posters. my previous name clearly was, or not clearly because of the change was
Famous Princess.

No one was confused.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
