Anyone else still have to file their tax return?

Every year. I'm a serial procrastinator and every year I leave it to the last minute, why? I've never been late but just make it so difficult for myself. And every year I promise myself I'll do it in April and every year I'm sat here in January putting it off...

🙋‍♀️

ColumboOnTheCase · 18/01/2023 07:37

Yes me. I do this every year too mine is pretty easy but I still keep putting it off until the last few days of January.

Cellotapedispenser · 18/01/2023 07:38

I gave up and pay a nice accountant to do mine and he shouts at me from Sept until I send him everything so its done in Oct these days. I couldn't take the stress of it looming over me for months and then being terrified I'd get it wrong (as I did one year)

Everydayitsgettingcloser · 18/01/2023 07:38

I have drafted it but haven't submitted it yet - need to double check something

I lean into doing it in January every year - I put it my diary to do in early January. I am never going to do it in April

canyon2000 · 18/01/2023 08:43

I was always the same but last year I actually did do my tax return in April!! I keep suddenly panicking this month thinking I haven't done it yet but then great relief when I remember I have. Hopefully I will do it in April again this year but who knows if that will happen😬

CatGrins · 21/01/2023 14:17

I've done it!

Can never make head nor tail about how much I owe though, I'm sure they just pluck a number from the air.

I've even made a start on my 22/23 accounts. Get me!

I submitted mine in September, I just so much easier than rushing last minute.
I used to wait till jan 30th, but Ive messed it up a few times and no time to concentrate.

I also make sure in September I get up to date on the nexts years accounts. So all I have to do this September is 6 months worth of accounts.

Well done! I've just finished mine! Talk about leaving it til the finish line!

Determined to follow your lead and start on the next!

I married an accountant.

Saying that he’s doing it tomorrow 🤣 there have been years he’s done it 31st night.

Hellocatshome · 27/01/2023 21:35

I have submitted approximately 100 this month (it is my job im not a random tax nerd) every single one of them could have been done months ago if people just got themselves sorted earlier.

Rowthe · 27/01/2023 21:36

Did mine on Monday

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 27/01/2023 21:42

Me! It's Sunday night's job - only took 45 mins last year so fingers crossed.
Every year I swear I'm going to do it and put it through tax code....

cantba · 27/01/2023 21:52

I always do mine on the 31st. Its like a competition against myself of how long i can wait before i do it. Every fucking year.

I've still got 56 to go 😬 The majority because people seem to think they are my only client so it's fine if they send their info in with 2 weeks to go...

Yes well there is them as well. I think we've got about 30 left to do between us but also February and March will be spent amending provisional returns we have sent in to avoid the penalties.

ginswinger · 27/01/2023 22:00

Just done mine! I smugly also did the WAT return a whole week early too. Feel like a rock star

Adviceneeded200 · 27/01/2023 22:08

Done 70 this month. 9 left. I'm exhausted so having the weekend off. All but one of those 9 came in in the last week.

curlymom · 27/01/2023 22:25

Finally did mine. It’s never that bad but I hate the thought too

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 29/01/2023 23:02

Done! As ever finding the reference numbers/ID check longest part.

Christmascracker0 · 29/01/2023 23:24

Nice to find some other tax advisers on here! I have reviewed the last couple of our returns today, so will just need to send them out tomorrow and submit (hopefully) on Tuesday.

I wish people would get their info in sooner but it’s the same every year.

WithIcePlease · 29/01/2023 23:27

Both done last week
Submitted but couldn't pay - this repeatedly happened until I did it in office hours, then it went through immediately
I keep saying we will do them before Christmas and causes me such heart sink on Boxing Day
