Ordered Scollops . Expecting actual fishy things. Instead I got potato deep fried in batter. WTF? What are they? Had already got home so couldn't question it.

You're all making me want a chippy tea. I would drive to South Wales for scallops and a cheese rissole right now if I could.

Fishcakes in Sheffield chip shops are fish sandwiched between two potato slices, then battered and fried.

Growing up in Doncaster a fishcake was mashed potato and fish which was either breaded or battered, then fried.

Chippy's don't sell the sort of scollops you we're expecting 😂😂

I'm East Midlands too and have never heard this either. Sounds like a potato fritter.

When I lived in the West Midlands scollops were potato fritters.

Scallops are a shellfish. It has the letter 'a' in it and up until recent years used to be called scAllops not scollops.
