I'm on day 4 slept better last night. Still can't taste or smell anything. COVID tests negative , I've been having cough syrup and paracetamol. Wondering when I'll be feeling better!!!?? Hopefully in time for Christmas.

Yeah. It’s doing the rounds here
you feel awful for a few days it goes away for 48 hours ish
and then returns with a vengeance

horrid. Hope you’ll be well for the weekend op

Nimbostratus100 · 21/12/2022 15:20

Is it actual flu? Did you have your flu jab?

Numbat2022 · 21/12/2022 15:22

Yes I'm on day 4 too. I keep thinking I'm getting better and then feel dreadful again. The cough seems to have subsided a bit but I'm exhausted. Not Covid, we've both tested a couple of times.

Yup!

Flu-like virus has been kicking my arse since Saturday. Fully flu jabbed, pneumococcal jab & all Covid boosters (I’m diabetic).

All negative lateral flows, temperature didn’t go below 39.5°c until yesterday, might be flu, might just be a doozy of an upper respiratory bug.

Paracetamol, plenty of fluids & a good dose of multivitamins (appetite has tanked, high blood glucose readings which are pretty normal when I’m ill even without food). Finally feeling slightly more human today, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t either got the lurgy at the moment, had the lurgy, or is generally looking a bit peaky today.

Out of internet if someone in your household had it, how long did it take for you to come down with it?

My son started with it 10 days ago and I'm bracing myself for me to get it any day soon!

beguilingeyes · 21/12/2022 15:32

Yep. Knocked me out for about ten days. Counting the hours between doses of painkillers.

tedgran · 21/12/2022 15:38

DH has it, now turned into a chest infection, thankfully was able to get appointment at our GP this morning, he is now on antibiotics. He tested negative, has had five covid jabs and a flu jab.We were going to my DD, staying in a nearby pub, but have cancelled the booking. The worst thing about this flu is the cough, he has a sore chest from coughing.

Yes I've had the flu jab. It's the most poorly I've felt in years. Feeling very weak appetite has gone. My DD had pneumonia a few weeks ago had antibiotics, she's got a new cough but nothing like this. I'm already run down as I had major surgery about 4 weeks ago.

I don't know what I've got exactly, as covid test was negative, but I feel absolutely awful. Started with a bit of a sore throat on Monday, then yesterday had a fever, body aches and dizzyness, spent most of today sniffling and coughing and trying to sleep. Absolutely killer headache too.

Omg, I have that! Was off work for a week, felt better for a couple of days and feel sick as a dog now. Pre-Christmas diet cos I can’t eat!

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/12/2022 16:48

We all have this, DC off school last week, vomiting with the cough. No high temps here just really nasty coughs, headaches, tiredness some vomiting / diarrheoa

Minfilia · 21/12/2022 17:12

Yup.

I started to feel better on day 4, I’m on day 7 and I’m wiped again.

Cough and sore throat never went away.

it’s bloody miserable! And infectious too, we all have it and I rarely get ill!

24-48 hours between it hitting each family member here.

My lungs feel like they’re on fire and I’ve pulled a muscle from the violent cough!

MrsPutnamNaomiDarling · 21/12/2022 17:18

DH has it I got it on day 3.

rubydoobydoo · 21/12/2022 17:18

Day 4 here too, thought I was feeling better yesterday but woke up feeling absolutely shocking and couldn't stop shivering. Eventually managed to drag myself out of bed and dose up and feeling slightly better now but still horrible.
I also have a stabbing pain in my back when I breathe and am coughing up foul phlegmy stuff.

I've had the flu and covid jabs, and tested negative for covid so it's just a really nasty virus going around- hope everyone else feels better soon!

My 2dc and DH have had it over the past two weeks and I seemed to have escaped it , if that gives you some hope!

familyissues12345 · 21/12/2022 17:43

7 days in here, bloody pants, and it's the gift that just keeps giving as I have a nice chest infection now too!

blueberry23 · 21/12/2022 21:06

6 days in and feeling awful. Sore throat, headache, body aches and shivers can't get warm despite heating on, full of snot too. Also pregnant and still very sick at 16weeks - and a poorly toddler to boot with a DH away at work.

AND supposed to be hosting Sunday - I haven't done a thing :-(

Axahooxa · 21/12/2022 21:12

It’s the worst!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 21/12/2022 21:14

It's wiped out half our office including one whole department. DH and I have got filthy colds and am hoping that's as bad as it gets but two of my colleagues passed out trying to get out of bed today (not the same bed!). It's certainly worse than the post-covid cold that did the rounds last year.

creamcheeseandlox · 21/12/2022 21:21

Both DC had it then dh now me but it's gone from a horrid cough and cold to sinusitis now. Haven't been able to taste for 3 days and not slept properly since Sunday due to horrible headache... hopefully the antibiotics kick in quickly.

How did you persuade your gp to give you antibs?

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 21/12/2022 22:31

I'm not a poorly person but I had this and it floored me. Constant shivering, dizziness and muscle aches. Mine lasted just under 2 weeks

GandalfsBigToe · 21/12/2022 22:39

Flu-like virus, but no temperature. Have had it for four days now, started off as sore throat and sinusy head cold but now moved on to chest and the cough is so tiring. Woke myself up last night - thought there was a cat yowling outside but it was my wheezy lungs!
