Both DH and I have, although I am far worse. I am exhausted as I keep coughing and I have a very runny nose and feel like shit.
Really hope I am better before Christmas Day. There are only four of us, but there is still prep to do.

Yep!
DS1 kindly gave it to me. I prettymuch haven't moved from the sofa since Sunday. Now DS2 sounds to be coming down with it.
The coughing. Oh, man, the coughing.

Squirrelsnut · 20/12/2022 19:25

I think half the country has! There's a rotten bug ripping through.

Elisheva · 20/12/2022 19:27

I have had a chest infection since Friday, and woke up this morning with a cold. I don’t know if it’s part of the same thing or a new bug. I’ve got soooo much to do!

Poor you having a chest infection. I am just coughing and constantly blowing my nose. I have put vaseline all around my nose as it was getting sore and red. Everyone else has gone out to a Christmas do, while I am stuck on the sofa feeling miserable.

I feel absolutely diabolical, had a cold last week then a couple of days ago my throat started to feel like sandpaper my ears hurt & the cough sounds like I’m an aircraft carrier, I ache all over & my head is banging seriously wondering if I need to contact the doctor haven’t felt this awful in a very very long time.
hope everyone feels much better soon.

MrsBrandonspiano · 20/12/2022 19:46

Have you all had a fu jab, or is this nasty virus immune to it?

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 19:47

We have had flu jab and covid boosters. Did covid tests as well.

OP posts:
Typo22 · 20/12/2022 19:47

Yep, started on Friday afternoon and I STILL feel appalling. Had a good old "it's not fair" cry before. It's always me who gets ill. Luckily DH has been amazing and pretty much done everything but I'm bored and miserable.

Head feels like it's going to explode, I can't remember what it feels like to breathe through my nose, I'm waking up with my throat dryer than the Sahara desert and my lips are sore and cracked. Not to mention this coughing is really testing my pelvic floor muscles 😑

I should feel happy as I'm officially off for Christmas and instead I'm bloody miserable.

dontcallmelen · 20/12/2022 19:48

I had my flu jab a few months ago, honestly I never felt this bad even with covid.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 20/12/2022 19:48

Yes, I've had a flu jab.
I don't think it's flu. I've had that possibly once in my life, and felt 100 times worse than now. Think it's "simply" cold this time.
But I've done literally nothing for 3 days now.

Quveas · 20/12/2022 19:50

I'm usually disgustingly fit and healthy. I had it in November and it knocked me off my feet. And I'm just starting again. I'm hoping this one won't be as bad...

RhinestoneCowgirl · 20/12/2022 19:51

I just had a normal cold, but after an excruciating night last night managed to get an appt with the nurse and have been prescribed antibiotics for a raging ear infections. I'm taking all the painkillers I can and feeling v sorry for myself. Also feeling guilty as I should be working on essays which are due in early January.

Sympathies all, it's rubbish being ill at Christmas.

OooohAhhhh · 20/12/2022 19:51

Yes me. My partner has just had it, & now my baby has it too.
My cough at night is really starting to annoy me & I'm forever blowing my nose.

KnittingDiva · 20/12/2022 19:57

Had viral throat infection for a week followed by strep throat. Started taking antibiotics and they were working a treat and then came down with the mother of all head colds.
Tis a rotten dose, the nose is worn off my face. Sounds like it’s seriously doing the rounds.
Just hope it shifts soon, have to pack up the gang, food, presents on xmas eve to go to mothers house (she has dementia) and do the dinner there, oh sweet Jesus, sounds worse writing it down 😱

Pointless2 · 20/12/2022 19:57

Me too - it’s really annoying 🤒. Just lying in bed doing nothing. Went to an interview this morning which made things a lot worse (I told the interviewers I was unwell which they were ok with).

I hope everyone gets better soon Flowers

Bigheartsshapelittleminds · 20/12/2022 19:59

Everyone has it! Was in boots today and the shelves were empty for cough/cold medicine.

Tootyfilou · 20/12/2022 20:01

My entire family have had this. I’m finally better after nearly 4 weeks! It’s hideous. I thought I would never be rid if it. Utterly exhausting.

AntiqueCestChic · 20/12/2022 20:02

Yes I came down with it today after the kids had it last week. Just did a covid test I had left in the cupboard and it's positive.

Feel absolutely awful!

DontFeatureMeOnSocialMedia · 20/12/2022 20:02

I think we're going to have to ask the last few people in the country that don't currently have this bug to go shopping for the rest of us!

LifeIsntAllDiamondsAndRoseButItShouldBe · 20/12/2022 20:16

Day three for me and feel appalling. DS got it from nursery last week and seems to have recovered. DD has had a low grade temperature but seems to have swerved it 🤞🏻I have been shivering and aching. Full of neon green snot and now have an ear infection which my GP prescribed an antibiotic spray for. Fingers crossed it starts to work soon because I am miserable and in agony. Had to cancel our festive trip to a lights walk tomorrow as I can't even walk to the kitchen and back without wanting to sleep for two hours.

Praying it goes away!!

Reluctantadult · 20/12/2022 20:19

Dh has been in bed for 3 days. My 5yo has had an on/off temperature for 5 weeks now.

Auntieobem · 20/12/2022 20:22

Sickness levels in work have been worse this past week than at height of covid. It's hit some folk really hard. One of my team has been hospitalised and about 75% have been off. I don't know why its not getting any news attention.

MintyGreenDreams · 20/12/2022 20:23

Yep mines virus like with nausea

antelopevalley · 20/12/2022 20:36

I haven't done Christmas shopping yet. If this was a normal week I would just book an online shop, but no chance of that. DH is disabled so can't manage it. I am going to have to drag myself out at some point.

Everyone has it! Was in boots today and the shelves were empty for cough/cold medicine.

This, it was the same in the cold and flu aisle in Tesco at the weekend, based on my own experience and hundreds of posts on here your part of the country must be behind the curve op if everyone you know doesn't have it yet
