We're going right up until the 23rd this year - this seems bonkers! Are we an exception or quite usual?

We finished last Thursday (private) but state schools here finish on 23rd and go back on 9th. I agree it's crazy!

Marmite27 · 20/12/2022 09:15

We finished on Friday.

Pasadenadreaming · 20/12/2022 09:15

We're actually private too which is why I was so surprised! I don't remember it ever being this late.

Simonjt · 20/12/2022 09:16

We broke up on Friday (Hackney).

Ramble0n · 20/12/2022 09:17

Last Friday.

SpaceRaiders · 20/12/2022 09:18

Mine finished on the 13th! I would rather they had a shorter break but they do have longer days so I suppose it evens out.

somewhereovertherain · 20/12/2022 09:18

Today round here

RobinRobinMouse · 20/12/2022 09:18

Most schools finished on Friday here (state - Gloucestershire)

YouFilthyAnimal · 20/12/2022 09:19

Last Friday, back in the 3rd/4th Jan
I’d have preferred to break up this week and have longer off after Xmas

bigbadbarry · 20/12/2022 09:19

We finished last Wednesday but schools in the next county (half a mile up the road) are in until 23rd. I think it’s a shame - the fun stuff is the Christmas build-up not early January - and they will still be tired on Christmas day

stopringingme · 20/12/2022 09:19

The 21st December go back on the 3rd January

2tired2bewitty · 20/12/2022 09:19

Today, lunchtime for the secondary school, full day for the primary.

mnahmnah · 20/12/2022 09:19

Both my school and my Dc school finished on Friday. I have friends over the border who finish in the 23rd too. We did one year and it was awful being dropped straight into Christmas! I much prefer having some time to enjoy festive things in the run up. However, it feels a long run up this time. A lot of days to fill with excitable children!

DoubleNit · 20/12/2022 09:20

22nd here. I'm pleased because I'm working christmas day/week after so it'll give me time to spend with the wee one and her new toys.

Whinge · 20/12/2022 09:20

In my area most schools are breaking up tomorrow. Wednesday 21st. Staff and students are on their knees with illness and I can't imagine dragging it out until Friday. Shock

SheWoreYellow · 20/12/2022 09:20

State schools are today, private are last Friday to this Wednesday.

FunctionalSkills · 20/12/2022 09:20

We broke up Friday gone. I had no idea some areas hadn't broken up yet!

greenbirdsong · 20/12/2022 09:21

My son finishes tomorrow. Back on 5th Jan.

Some other local schools finish today.

mumonthehill · 20/12/2022 09:22

In wales and the 22nd and going back 9th jan.

megletthesecond · 20/12/2022 09:23

Hampshire state schools broke up last Friday.

AnneElliott · 20/12/2022 09:23

It's was meant to be today, but they have cases of Strep A so they finished Thursday last week.

RamblingEclectic · 20/12/2022 09:24

Midday on Thursday the 22nd, going back on the 9th.

This suits my family fine, I prefer this than going back right after New Year, though being near multiple borders it has caused issues with some staff who have children already off while we're still in.

B1993 · 20/12/2022 09:26

I’m a teacher and have worked up until the 23rd before. This year the last day of term is this Wednesday (21st) and we are back on 4th Jan.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 20/12/2022 09:26

Right to the bitter end of the 23rd for me as staff in primary and DD in secondary. No time to enjoy the build up, or anything festive. No time to get the food shop in as I normally do on 21/22nd. Am full of the cold, exhausted and to be honest the kids are in no fit state to learn anything.
