Yes, he stopped going to school and was put on Valium. Poor lad.

So groundbreaking. So cool So talented.

I loved The Specials. They hit the horrible late 70’s disco scene like a train. I was 16 when their first single was out.

Was just listening to them the other day.

Very very sad. Another 80's teen here and their songs summed up a lot about life at the time in Thatcher's brutal Britain. He was very talented.

Squeeze's Chris Difford described Terry Hall as "a man of few words verbally but so many great words in song".

Our eldest DC was just 3 when The Specials came on the scene in our home city.
My mum made her a 2 tone jacket and fashioned a Rude Boy type hat. She looked the business. RIP Terry Hall, Cov mourns.

Very sad and so young!
He was so quiet, but my god his lyrics said it all!
Its a massive loss to real thought provoking music.. music as it should be, and the music we grew up with.

Horace Panter has put out a statement, Terry had pancreatic cancer that spread to his liver, it seems to have happened very quickly 😦

I was lucky enough to see The Specials,a few years ago,at the Ulster Hall Belfast, it's definitely in my top ten of gigs

Gorgeous one, had never heard that before with O Connor. His dark experiences as a child were what made his song writing and singing so tinged with sadness but also hope and belief in people. He was indeed a special person.

I have been so sad about this. Had a tribute session whilst cooking dinner last night and was once again blown away by the absolute quality of his work across The Specials, Fun Boy Three and Colourfield. RIP Terry and thank you.

So sad to read the account of his last few weeks. How awful for his poor family.

I was hoping he went more peacefully. My friend's husband died of lung cancer that went to the brain nearly two years ago and his last couple of days were horrific. I wish all the good people got peaceful ends but alas that's not the way it works.

I had a good session dancing in the kitchen tonight after seeing my oncologist. Its all a load of bollocks, indeed 😕

@EachandEveryone I hope your treatment is going well. Nothing more to add that isn't platitudes but my thoughts are with you, however briefly, this morning.
