What's going on in local Facebook group?

In mine it's mega drama at the moment. A 'big' local weather page has commented on a smaller one that's for an area near by that he's a doom mongerer so the owner of the smaller page has screen shots of the big weather creator talking crap about him. She deleted her comments.

Then a couple of days later she suggests that she should start a patreon for weather updates nearby. And then the smaller page posted about how the bigger page offered to buy his but he'd never sell... very dramatic!

Also dog poo, and a random admin who doesn't live in the country anymore, posting photos of when he did live in the village but it's all changed now so people are asking why he's an admin 😂

My favourite though was when we had an 'air show' nearby at the local rubbishy airport and as the village is under the flight path so many bloody photos of American planes, military planes. Someone got sick of it and just took a photo of a model aeroplane and the chaos that followed was amazing!

Asylum seekers in a local hotel. I’ve reported several posters for hate speech but don’t expect it will make any difference. And missing cats, who always turn up completely fine about an hour later.

watcherintherye · 10/12/2022 01:05

And missing cats, who always turn up completely fine about an hour later.

And ‘found’ cats, going about their day, minding their own business, only to be whipped into a random person’s house for ‘safekeeping’, photographed, and splashed all over ‘Nextdoor’ - ‘Do you recognise this cat, I think it might be lost?’
Well it wasn’t, but it is now, because you’ve bloody kidnapped it!

goldfishthecracker · 10/12/2022 01:05

@HeddaGarbled oh that's sad, people need to be a bit more tolerant.

Missing cats make up a massive amount of posts in our group too.

See also the phantom inconsiderate dog shit owner that turned to be a fox..

@watcherintherye Grin I love the stolen/ missing cat ones. There's a bengal in the village who acts like he's starving and very neglected but his owner just posts 'yes he's a knob, yes he has a house, don't feed him'

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/12/2022 01:15

Now you've posted about the cat @goldfishthecracker, either we live in the same area or this kind of thing is rife on Facebook.

whataballbag · 10/12/2022 01:15

Someone is shaming someone for putting human shit in their wheelie bin.

Unclear whether the offender shat directly into the bin, or shat on the floor and then placed it in the bin.

I have asked further questions

🤣🤣🤣

What about a babies nappy?? Could be that lol!

On my local page, someone is moaning about how their next door neighbour complained about their Christmas lights brining the street 'down'. It started a long debate on 'how many outdoor Christmas lights is too much and tacky looking'

Does the village start with D?

whataballbag · 10/12/2022 01:27

I did think it may be a nappy however the post says 'if anyone knows the lady driver of this car tell her that cctv is a wonderful thing' etc

Which leads me to believe that she is the town crapper

toomuchlaundry · 10/12/2022 01:32

Missing cats, dog poo and local paedophile

Albless · 10/12/2022 01:37

My village starts with letter D, and we have now, after a week of speculation, determined that the cat who frequents Jean's garden and isn't Mary's or Dave's or Brian's, belongs to the new people who've moved in round the corner from Betty.

Weesiewoo · 10/12/2022 01:46

This time of year our community page is full of people asking for a snake catchers number, particularly on a Saturday when everyone mows. I'm obviously not in the UK.
Other than that, just the standard missing cat or photos of teenagers caught on camera creating havoc in the summer holidays. 😄

goldfishthecracker · 10/12/2022 01:46

@Albless Grin cats have a lot to answer for!!

YouAndMeVsTheWorld · 10/12/2022 02:18

this awesome local old guy 78 got slammed to the ground by the police. Fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

the community has been rallying round and supportive and he is back up and active, holding a party in the park

Not a Bengal but this is my only contribution to our local Facebook page.

”No, as I’ve said 52848380272 times, she has a home, she’s not starving, she’s just greedy. Please don’t feed her as you’re making her ill and she’ll end up having to be a house cat which she’d hate

I also get tagged in any other missing cat posts. “Do you know this cat? Just thought because you have one…”
Mine is a rude cat, she doesn’t bring her pals home and introduce them so Nope!

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/12/2022 06:11

There are a couple of villages beginning with D local to me. Is the weather page for a wider area or just your village?

Simonsaysitschristmas · 10/12/2022 06:55

On ours it’s about someone being stabbed yesterday.

Its normally a lot milder with people complaining about the route the local Santa takes because he misses out too many streets 😂

goldfishthecracker · 10/12/2022 10:15

@WeAreTheHeroes the weather pages are for Buxton and the high peak. This is a throwaway anyway :)

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 10/12/2022 10:22

I knew it! We live in High Peak, near New Mills. The bit about the local group run by the guy who doesn't live there anymore resonated. The hoo ha over his inappropriate content led to an alternative group with a very similar name being set up.

goldfishthecracker · 10/12/2022 10:59

@WeAreTheHeroes Grin hello neighbour!! His 'new page' is ridiculous. But the weather drama is what I'm living for at the mo!

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 10/12/2022 11:03

He has a new page?! I left the original group when he refused to remove racist content and comments.

curiousbanana · 10/12/2022 11:12

Dog shit.
Complaints about the smallness of village Xmas tree.
Someone asking if anyone else isn't getting post.
Bitchiness.

The usual nonsense.

toomuchlaundry · 10/12/2022 01:32

Missing cats, dog poo and local paedophile

Oh yes we apparently have a local paedophile too, but the village is extra incensed because he's not white.

Only white sex offenders in this village please!

spidereggs · 10/12/2022 11:18

Ours is ice and lack of grit.

Why the council only grits the towns and not the villages.

Why they grit when not needed and not when sheet ice.

Why do people not grit and help.

People should not grit and help because if they do and someone falls YOU will be sued.
