What's going on in local Facebook group?

In mine it's mega drama at the moment. A 'big' local weather page has commented on a smaller one that's for an area near by that he's a doom mongerer so the owner of the smaller page has screen shots of the big weather creator talking crap about him. She deleted her comments.

Then a couple of days later she suggests that she should start a patreon for weather updates nearby. And then the smaller page posted about how the bigger page offered to buy his but he'd never sell... very dramatic!

Also dog poo, and a random admin who doesn't live in the country anymore, posting photos of when he did live in the village but it's all changed now so people are asking why he's an admin 😂

My favourite though was when we had an 'air show' nearby at the local rubbishy airport and as the village is under the flight path so many bloody photos of American planes, military planes. Someone got sick of it and just took a photo of a model aeroplane and the chaos that followed was amazing!

The only local groups I belong to are those for groups with hobbies or certain disabilities.

Pressed send too soon...

I'm in the south west and ever so often, someone up north will post that the group meeting is cancelled. Why would someone in the opposite end of the country be interested in that?

MumGoneMild · 10/12/2022 20:37

High drama in my local. Kids from the council estate using the new park by owned homes. Its been boiling for days and snd its erupted Friday night.
community police had to get involved

absolute outrage tonight as the estate spar closed early for the football… someones nan was upset because she couldn't get her milk….. theres another shop 5 shops down that was open and selling milk, BUT THATS NOT THE POINT!!!!!

my cats forever on that page, shes 18 and looks like shes on her last legs(shes not) and we often get calls from the RSPCA just checking again, they are very good tbf 6snd tell the caller they know her, shes grand and leave her be😂

MumGoneMild · 10/12/2022 20:38

Ignore the shocking typos….😦

goldfishthecracker · 10/12/2022 20:49

Lots of posts of snow today

Lost & found cats - seems to be essential for a local page

Missing parcels - it's like an identify the front door game we can all play

Items found by people out walking - seems to be a lot of careless people in the area

The road closure drama kept them all going for weeks - but the council finished werks ahead of schedule

Dog poo

Bad drivers - 'to the driver of the blue Mercedes in X Street this morning' cos you know that'll make them mend their ways

Fireworks - always a favourite

My recent favourite was the ring doorbell photo of a dodgy looking guy in the street around 0300. Going into gardens and left in a white van. It was the milkman 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's been quite quiet recently which is always disappointing

Ours has very strict admins who seem to ban anyone they disagree with, or who makes a joke or is sarcastic etc. They rarely let anybody join any more and it's now a closed group. Sadly, lots of people post about rallying people to fundraise, help out, use the local pub etc, but no bugger can actually get on to see the posts so they are wasting their time!

sunlight81 · 10/12/2022 21:05

Lost items trying to be returned, Stolen items trying to be found

Dodgy people are about ur deliveries aren't safe in a safe place. (But quite realistically could just be a delivery driver from the photo!)

People now living abroad wanting pictures of the cold weather

Recommendations for x y and z

Cat poo and dog poo

And a good old moan about how a local evening shopping event was not as advertised ... non of the shops were open!!

Same here. Jumped up little Hitlers come to mind when I think of the admin in my local group. One of them even tried to impose the group rules on someone on a totally different page.

A few months back, I found a furry critter that had got lost. I took it to a local vets, and posted about it on local lost pet groups. The owner posted a lost ad on the big group I am banned from. She did not see my posts on other groups, and I did not see hers. Someone shared my posts to her in the end.. and she thanked the group I am banned from for reuniting her with her pet.. and they fucking took the credit too.

OlleOskiFelle · 10/12/2022 21:27

Obviously the usual dog poo/bins/GP phone lines, BUT this week we have a new one.
Low income households were given a £120 gift card which was supposed to be spent in local small businesses to help them after Covid, except it can also be used in Morrisons.
Lots of arguments about it being terrible that a supermarket will benefit, but then why would low income families want to buy speciality homemade soap, but they should buy the soap.
Apparently someone was seen buying cigarettes and alcohol with theres.
Oh the horror.

It's v entertaining.

@TheIsaacs Are you in Warwickshire?
If not, you have a similar 'problem' in your local town as us!

Our local WhatsApp is all about a closed off footpath and why it has happened.

Yes I suspect it’s the same town! Especially if there’s been a big market today? Absolute chaos on the roads!

AclowncalledAlice · 11/12/2022 10:24

Predictably today ours is all "how much milk/bread is left at the Co-Op?" "is the CO-OP open today?" all because we have a light dusting of snow.

GetOffTheRoof · 11/12/2022 11:26

Today it's ice and gritters. Where are the gritters? I've just seen someone slide down X Road. Y Road is closed by the police after a car slide with a trailer into parked cars. Don't go up B road, it's lethal. No gritter seen anywhere today even though the author lives in a cul de sac miles from the main drag.

Someone got yelled at and her photo take for using grit from the grit bin on the path outside her shop...

It fucking rained last night. Most of the town is on a hill. EVERYWHERE is bloody lethal with ice today, not just your poxy road.

WhoWants2Know · 11/12/2022 11:39

A boat has broken the ice all along the length of the river, which is BAD FORM as it makes the ice uneven and difficult for fen runners to engage in their sport.

Also there is a Shiba Inu in someone's garden, a tabby cat is missing and various horses may be in or out of the correct fields.

daffodilandtulip · 11/12/2022 12:07

Massive uproar because they want to open a second co-op. We already have one, where will people park, will there be roadworks for it...

Moonflower12 · 11/12/2022 12:17

@TheIsaacs

Is there uproar because the market has been cancelled at the last minute due to snow?
And lots of passive aggressive comments?
I suspect it is the same town.

TheIsaacs · 11/12/2022 13:25

@Moonflower12 yes, there’s even a Poem about forcing councillors to resign!

curiousbanana · 11/12/2022 15:51

Ours is nice this afternoon, the local heron has been spotted out in the frosty weather, lots of pretty photos of him looking majestic.

Moonflower12 · 11/12/2022 18:20

@TheIsaacs
We do live near the same town!
I'm intrigued as to which village has banned you due to living in a new build house!
There is a small private road in ours that has some new builds on it...

feetlikeahobbit · 11/12/2022 18:35

Ours is
Dog poo
Lost cats/dogs/parcels
and the main one Quarry blasting, did your hear that noise, shut the quarry shook my house etc
The quarry has been here over a hundred years, no house has fallen down yet!

PeopleAreTheWorst · 11/12/2022 19:27

I actually posted on myself in our neighbourhood page. Dodgy looking black van driving really slowly round the estate taking photos.
I posted warning people to make sure stuff was locked up.
Several neighbours a bit perturbed until another pointed out that it was a family who had emigrated years prior, lived in our house before and had brought their children to see where they used to live 🙈🙈

FourChimneys · 11/12/2022 19:53

Ours has a new bit of drama. The IT system at one of the convenience shops has gone down, cash only.

The staff have handwritten a large sign and are trying to verbally alert people as they go in. But it's Sunday night and they are not overstaffed.

Massive grumbling as some people will apparently starve tonight - presumably due in part to their inability to find their way to the next shop about a quarter of a mile away.

An equal number of comments reminding people that it is not the fault of the staff and to be polite to them.
