How many pigs in blankets pp

CourtneeLuv · 03/12/2022 17:29

I went in the butchers today and started my order for Christmas (still undecided on what meat) I ordered pigs in blankets, specifically two packs of 10, for 2 of us.

These will go on more than one meal obviously!

The correct number of pigs in blankets to serve is infinity but that's unrealistic, so how many are you catering for per person, or is the correct amount per portion?

We go for 6 per person...

Then I wander in and out of the kitchen eating any extras left 😂

SausageRoll2020 · 03/12/2022 17:32

The number should really only be restricted by available oven space, as you say infinite pigs in blankets is the correct amount.

Although, you could always get another pack for the freezer and cook up some more during twixtmas

Watto1 · 03/12/2022 17:33

Are they little cocktail sausage sized pigs or are they the size of a full sausage? I’d say 3-4 for the little ones or one big one.

catsonahottinroof · 03/12/2022 17:34

Not sure I understand the question about per portion, but I would say two per person if lots of other side dishes, but to be on the safe side like you say you can never have too many pigs in blankets, so maybe do four per person and you can have the leftovers in the turkey sandwiches.

Luckydog7 · 03/12/2022 17:34

Agree infinity! But as an actual number is required i would say minimum 4 but preferably more. I think I did 48 last year for 10 adults and 3 children under 4. They were all gone by the end of the day, in the main meal and follow up sandwiches.

BTW, pig sandwich with stuffing and cranberry is one of life's greatest joys.

Littlemissprosecco · 03/12/2022 17:35

One year my boy just had 20 with gravy!!

hugoagogo · 03/12/2022 17:36

I make at least 6 pigs per omnivore, but I know they would eat more if I made them.

NameIsBryceQuinlan · 03/12/2022 17:37

2/3 per person I would eat if it's with Christmas lunch.

If it's party food then I'd eat more I think

SixCharactersinSearchofanAuthor · 03/12/2022 17:38

I would say 4 is about normal. There's always some freak who doesn't like them and one who'll eat about 50 so ...

Have you seen Bisto are making Pigs in Blankets gravy granules?

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2022 17:41

I would happily just have the pigs in blankets rather than Turkey etc. We buy ready made after years of fiddliness and stick as many as we can in our tiny freezer - they do make a nice meal with Christmas leftovers . If little ones I would go for 3 or 4 per person on offer - they can be eaten cold Nigella style straight out of the fridge - trust me.

Floralnomad · 03/12/2022 17:43

4-6 here , my husband doesn’t eat them at all .

NoelNoNoel · 03/12/2022 17:43

I am doing 48 for 4 adult males and me. If there are any left we’ll have them later in our Turkey sandwiches.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 03/12/2022 17:44

I’d make 6 each and then shove an extra 8 on the tray just in case.

Winterfellismyhome · 03/12/2022 17:45

I think about 4 each is good for us. But you'll get people saying they sniffed a pig in blanket last year and that did them til New Year's Day

SirenSays · 03/12/2022 17:45

3 or 4 of the little ones

MissDollyMix · 03/12/2022 17:45

32 per person….

ok that’s probably my an over-exaggeration but I always over cater on these things as any left over are lovely to eat cold the next day.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/12/2022 17:46

It's the best part of Christmas dinner, so Im making 8 half chipolata sized ones each. That way we stand a chance of having some left over for boxing day. But there again, I'm now suddenly thinking that maybe we still won't have enough!

TimBoothseyes · 03/12/2022 17:47

It's just me and DP here over Christmas and we have a packet of 12 pigs-in-blankets as that's the smallest size I could get. DP's portion will be all of them because I don't like them <don's hard hat and ducks down behind sofa> .

NoSquirrels · 03/12/2022 17:47

I’m reckoning on 3-4 small ones per person. Some will be naked pigs, because I have some philistines dining with us this year. It averages out because MIL will only have 1 whereas nephew will probably eat at least 8…

FatOaf · 03/12/2022 17:47

An awful lot of people seem to be assuming they'll be able to buy turkeys, despite the fact half of them have been lost to bird flu.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 03/12/2022 17:49

Nasty, unnecessary little things.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/12/2022 17:50

Minimum 4. But that really is only if you have my parents to dinner who are the 'big salad' originators. For normal people, at least 6 each.

gogohmm · 03/12/2022 17:50

Zero, don't understand why you want double pig. Chipolatas are nicer on their own without streaky bacon wrapped around them

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/12/2022 17:51

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 03/12/2022 17:49

Nasty, unnecessary little things.

I can't actually say what I want because I'd get banned.

Xmas Shock
CaronPoivre · 03/12/2022 17:52

As part of a huge lunch? I'd think two per person plus a few extra for anyone not eating the main meat.
