How many pigs in blankets pp

CourtneeLuv · 03/12/2022 17:29

I went in the butchers today and started my order for Christmas (still undecided on what meat) I ordered pigs in blankets, specifically two packs of 10, for 2 of us.

These will go on more than one meal obviously!

The correct number of pigs in blankets to serve is infinity but that's unrealistic, so how many are you catering for per person, or is the correct amount per portion?

I’m aiming for 5 per person and dinner is for 17 people.

I’ve got to make them by hand as going to a country where they aren’t a ready-made thing!

monsteramunch · 03/12/2022 17:52

All of them.

HTH.

I can't actually say what I want because I'd get banned.

Surely the real joy of Christmas is eating cold pigs and blankets on Boxing Day? So, eighty.

MissDollyMix · 03/12/2022 17:45

32 per person….

ok that’s probably my an over-exaggeration but I always over cater on these things as any left over are lovely to eat cold the next day.

I’m with you ... I made 150 last year for 6 of us - my adult sons think they’re the best bit! There is some usually left over for later 😂😂

Multipleexclamationmarks · 03/12/2022 17:58

Well for my son, as many as I can muster. Also one of those big swirly ones like a Cumberland sausage type thing for snacking on. Then a few random packs in the freezer for buffets and emergencies.

An awful lot of people seem to be assuming they'll be able to buy turkeys, despite the fact half of them have been lost to bird flu.

I've already got mine...it's the worlds smallest turkey crown so that's probably why it was easy to get.

Tesco sell frozen cocktail sausage in bags of 56.
That's just right for the 4 of us.😊

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 03/12/2022 18:04

There's just 3 of us Christmas Day and we are doing 30., any leftovers will go in sandwiches or a festive pie (layers of Turkey, stuffing and PIB topped with puff pastry on Boxing Day.

Got a family event between Christmas and new year with about 8 of us and I'm taking 60 for the buffet.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 03/12/2022 18:16

We have about 10 each. But that's the only meat we eat for Christmas dinner. A pigs in blanket feast!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/12/2022 18:20

I am not making enough clearly. I shall up my game.

Watto1 · 03/12/2022 17:33

Are they little cocktail sausage sized pigs or are they the size of a full sausage? I’d say 3-4 for the little ones or one big one.

They are cocktail size, but being butchers sausages, they are bigger than Iceland cocktail sausages.

cavily1806 · 03/12/2022 18:22

Normally 3 per person but Xmas day anything goes. I'd eat ten 😂

WondrousWinger · 03/12/2022 18:23

I’d make 6 each and then shove an extra 8 on the tray just in case

Haha, we do the same, always add some 'just in case' pigs on. Same with roasties!

Orormno · 03/12/2022 18:25

I have 112 for 16 people (3 of whom barely eat anything) Worrying about the turkey and gammon though. Have a turkey that supposedly feeds 15 and a 2.8 kg gammon, that’s not enough is it?

I will be cooking all 20.

Any left over will be stuffed into a yorkie with a roast potato and a bit of stuffing.

Well my ds has decided he's making them with 'large' sausages this year so I can ration him to 2 but he'll feel like he's eating 6!
If I'm making them for lunch 3-4, more if I'm making them for a buffet.

CourtneeLuv · 03/12/2022 18:44

I only ever eat them ar Christmas. Buffet ones would just be pigs no blankets.

OP posts:
MargaretThursday · 03/12/2022 18:53

Eight.

Any spare (haha) can always be eaten cold later.

Oblomov22 · 03/12/2022 18:58

3 or 4 minimum.

When I order the turkey they send 2 per person (made with chipolatas). Then I usually cook a packet of the little cocktail ones as well for 5 adults and 1 5 year old.
