How many pigs in blankets pp

CourtneeLuv · 03/12/2022 17:29

I went in the butchers today and started my order for Christmas (still undecided on what meat) I ordered pigs in blankets, specifically two packs of 10, for 2 of us.

These will go on more than one meal obviously!

The correct number of pigs in blankets to serve is infinity but that's unrealistic, so how many are you catering for per person, or is the correct amount per portion?

4 for the person plating up to eat as they work, 3 per plate, then 35 for the snacking in the evening.

earsup · 03/12/2022 19:16

None...stupid things that get burnt easily when cooking....hate them !

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 03/12/2022 19:23

We've already started eating them. Had them for tea yesterday. I can confirm 24 (cocktail sized) PIB isn't quite enough for 4 people when no other meat is present. At any rate, I was asked for more....

That made me laugh.

I do 60 for 15 of us 🤷🏻‍♀️

Marmite27 · 03/12/2022 19:28

I’ve got 4 packs of full size Asda extra special chipolatas on the list to make pigs in blankets with. To split between Christmas Day and Boxing Day. For 2 adults and a 4 year old and 7 year old. The 4 year old has checked we’re having pigs in blankets twice a week since September, so I think they’ll have a few!

I’ve also got 30 mini ones in the freezer for pigs in blankets Pasta Christmas week.

Marmite27 · 03/12/2022 19:29

the chipolatas are packs of 12, so 24 each day. None of this cold on Boxing Day, we have to have freshly cooked.

bostonchamps · 03/12/2022 19:29

woah woah - are none of you hiding two uncooked packs (or a pack pp) at the back of fridge, next to a Diet Coke and orange juice (for a mimosa) to find - bleary eyed - on Boxing Day morning??

No?

Just me?

Ducksurprise · 03/12/2022 19:32

I thought I was gonna eye roll at this thread so was pleasantly surprised. You are correct with infinity, however also little sausages and little bacon rolls should also be counted.

Ilovetocrochet · 03/12/2022 19:32

We have separate bacon rolls and small sausages as we like crispy sausages - can be soggy when wrapped! There will be 8 of us and we’re cooking about 60 plus sausages and over 100 bacon rolls as they are rather small and a lot get stolen before we actually sit down. There have never been any left over as we fight over the last few!

rainbowandglitter · 03/12/2022 19:41
  1. I find them disgusting. Dh has them and says 4.
Boooooot · 03/12/2022 19:44

I don’t like them. But I’m going to eat all of them this year just out spite as my husband knocked mine off my plate last year when I was feeding HIS baby.

I would say 4 is about normal. There's always some freak who doesn't like them and one who'll eat about 50 so ...

Have you seen Bisto are making Pigs in Blankets gravy granules?

The Bisto pigs in blankets gravy is amazing !! Super tasty

Baystard · 03/12/2022 19:55

@Ducksurprise not hiding uncooked packs, actively preparing at least one carefully prepared extra baking tray (with about about 30 full sized ones) ready to shove straight into the oven on boxing day!

I'm budgeting 10 per person for Xmas dinner plus half again on boxing day Grin

mincepiepie · 03/12/2022 19:57

On a Christmas dinner it's two

Unlimited during twixmas for snacking and meals.

I get 12 from butcher and then another. 24 from Aldi.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/12/2022 19:11

4 for the person plating up to eat as they work, 3 per plate, then 35 for the snacking in the evening.

This is the correct answer

crussont · 03/12/2022 19:59

2

crussont · 03/12/2022 20:00

If you were having a normal meal how many rashers of bacon and sausages extra would you eat with it?

Notanotherwindow · 03/12/2022 20:06

6 usually. Then go back for more if I have room.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 03/12/2022 20:07

@Marmite27 could you please tell me more about pigs in blankets pasta? I feel a new mid week dinner recipie is about to be added to the household repertoire!

I have these granules
DS loved the gravy, me not so much

The taste reminds me of bacon crisps. Now I love bacon crisps, but not sure about bacon crisp flavour sauce...

ChristmasJoysuckers · 03/12/2022 20:09

Devil on horseback as well?

Angelicapickles1 · 03/12/2022 20:12
